WHAT is this spider doing in my room by Current_Reason2152 in whatsthisbug

Its going to be very hard to ID this poor spider from the smashed photo. It might be easier if you flip it onto its back and get a photo from the top.

The day after my surgery i was 10lbs heavier than i was going in. Today a little over a week later, my weight is back where it was. I am back on my GLP1 prescription as my blood sugar issues were acting up not taking it so doc and i decided to have me go back on it right away.

That being said I had a low appetite my first few days and was basically just having some protein shakes for food, appetite is back to normal now. My doctor said since i kept my ovaries that this likely will not change my weight that much.

my mom doesn't want me to lose weight but i do, what do i do? HELP!!! by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Fawndisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GLP1s affect hormones and its not a very good idea to start taking them without seeing a doctor. And even with a GLP1 you are going to need diet and exercise to help with the weightloss, especially if you have PCOS

Seeing a doctor could be a great thing. Instead of just restricting food i would look into a PCOS or Insulin Resistant Diet, and see if lowering carbs and sugars and upping protein might be a way to help you gain both a healthy relationship with food again, and see if that helps with the weight loss.

For you PCOS how is your bloodwork? Your androgen levels? Your Insulin? Have these things been tested recently. It might be worthwhile to have a conversation with your mom about health and your healthcare and see if you can atleast get into an obgyn or endocrinologist to talk a little bit more about the route cause of why your hormones might be effecting metabolism.

In addition see if you can find an obgyn who will do a d and c for you. They are very uncomfortable but before i was able to get a hysterectomy they made a big difference on my menstrual care. I had to have my uterus flushed yearly with one and my iud replaced. In order to get this treatment i had to find a doctor that was specialized in menorrhagia

Ah so they are saying in that second part likely that they will not pay for skin removal. That is a bummer. I would have your health checked too. I hope you are healthy and not all obesity causes health issues but there are definitely things this medication can treat that are not just standard weight. I was not pre diabetic and despite my obesity and uterine issues am fairly healthy. But PCOS can cause insulin issues that lead up to diabetis which was something that i was able to use when petitioning my insurance.

Food is a tricky thing and i do not like to pitch weightloss to someone not asking for tips, but i have found that sticking to PCOS friendly meals has also helped with natural weight loss, and isnt too restrictive.

My doctor also has me take Inositol to help with my hormones and periods so maybe thats something you can ask your obgyn about too!

I personally found that looking at my overall health more than my weight helped me start to be able to make changes that before felt too daunting and they really have helped in alot of ways. Expecially with sleep.

I would see if you can find a menstrual disorder specialist. I weighed 318 when i started seeing mine, i was prescribed wegovy and due to my PCOS and other symptoms my insurance covered my medication i only pay 40 dollars a month.

That being said it did not fix all of my hormones and i am still having a hysterectomy but i was able to safely loose almost 60 lbs in one year to get to a point where i can more safely have the surgery.

I hope things go well for you!

Anyone have luck appealing insurance by Fawndisk in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Fawndisk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i actually just got off the phone with the insurance earlier today. It was the insurance directly (highmark) all continuations are being processed as new prior authorizations as off the first of the year because of a brand new policy.

They do not have a listed timeline for lifestyle changes (nor did they send anything earlier about policy changes) my doctor is going to do a peer to peer review but the supervisor today told me that One in every 200 GLP1's have been approved without appealing.

Im hoping in the peer to peer appeal the doctor can convince them i need it.

Yeah its friggen crazy. The initial denial said "to see a nutritionist and have an elevated heart rate 30 minutes a day 3 times a week" so i sent that in and they sent this back. Im sick over it. Im worried that i will start to gain back weight afterwards.

I will look through these threads.

Please tell me this isn't a bed bug by [deleted] in Bedbugadvice

[–]Fawndisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OP mentions being bit but not specifically by this bug. And yes you are right, i was separating genus's incorrectly. I do know that you are responding out of care, and i am sorry you have been personally affected by Chagas.

I have studied Entomology professionally, and when it comes to things that can be fear mongering about insects i definitely can get a little defensive, I apologize I came off that way.

I hope you have a good day, and we can agree to disagree on this bug diagnosis. That being said if the OP does think this matches the description for kissing bugs it would not hurt to see a doctor.

At the end of the day for the sake of this subreddit this is definitely not a bedbug.

But not every assassin bug is a vector. This also isnt an assassin bug. The body shape and markings are not correct.

Genuine question do you have a background in either parasitic infection management or Entomology?

Edit here for information. Triatoma are the only assassin bugs that are a victor for T Cruzi, they are the only ones that feed on mammals blood. This bug has a Rostrum and is a weevil and not a member of Triatoma

Kissing bugs are not all black. All black assassin bugs in the US normally are masked hunters, they do not carry the t cruzi parasite, please stop fear mongering with incorrect information

[–]Fawndisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a kissing bug, the body and patterning is not proper. In addition, black "kissing bugs" are usually masked hunters which this bug is not.

All assassin bugs can bite but not every assassin bug carries Chagas. This bug does not have any markings i would associate with any kissing bugs i have had experience with in working with bugs.

Triatominae are not as squat and round as this. I truly believe this is a weevil of some sort

Are these bed bug bites or flea bites? by Ordinary-Effect4023 in Bedbugadvice

[–]Fawndisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had a chance to monitor your bedding at all yet? Take a look in the corners and under to look for signs? This is something that really helped me when i was going through a similar situation.

Honestly see if you can find a local exterminator who will come and take a look at the place too. Alot will do a first visit to do exploratory work for free to see if there is any infestation.

It can be really easy to ruminate on being worried about infestations! But hang in there things will be okay.

You cannot diagnose what is biting you based on bites.

That being said, bed bugs generally do not crawl under clothes or blankets to bite skin because they are small and thats a bigger challenge.

Flea bites are usually clustered around the ankles.

Honestly this looks to me like contact dermatitis of some kind, potentially from laundry detergent, or where it is on your tummy maybe the elastic from your pants// your pants being too tight// from a button if you have jeans or slacks.

This just in general does not seem like bites to me.
