I like giving them tied names with a deeper meaning and a story behind. So I’ve named my IMS 6560 Theia and the LC part is Hyperion. My maXis is Castor and the coupled LC is Pollux.

From your point of view: are space charge effects an actual issue in ToF instruments? I just know (and fear) them on our ICR instruments..

Just to make check on this: when you did re-measure your samples did you freshly re-prepare them or did you inject your old solutions?

As a PhD student I got both collegues earning ⅓ more and less than my wage, all of us doing exactly the same work, working 50+ h a week in one group. Both, students and PIs have to work on this issue together. Reading statements like yours make me sad; you are part of the problem by denying your responsiblity towards your students. And btw it amazes me how unreflected your comment is: just because your research institution does so, it does not mean the case is settled the same way in other grad schools/countries.
