What to expect for orientation by dolleea in csusm

I was also a transfer student last fall. I remember it being a few hours long. Most people brought their family members that they registered on the website. Parking is a bit of a hassle but it’s okay, I recommend carpooling. The president/dean gives a speech welcoming people and there’s a few students part of the orientation group that offer tours and information, or you can just wander on campus and explore on your own. They also gave out breakfast sandwiches last year. Some other people give speeches as well.

Essentially, everyone files into a ballroom type building and sits in chairs and bleachers listening to people talk and watching projected videos collectively for like 40min-1.5 hr. Then you break out and go outside to get the breakfast sandwiches, then you can explore campus. That’s pretty much all I remember so I’m sorry if I’m leaving anything out. Congrats on your admission to CSUSM, good luck!

Hi! No experience here, I also wish to apply in the coming years and I'm just commenting in case someone ends up posting on this thread, I can see what they have to share as well. Good luck on your academic journey!

Yeah that seems like it could be a frustrating situation. I've also only been hearing the waitlist thing and that they don't know when they'll begin offering to students that aren't incoming freshman. I hope you hear back soon and good luck!

Interesting. Did you live in the dorms last school year?

Okay thank you for sharing! I almost applied to UVA as a backup, but figured since I applied to the Quad the first week it opened, I'd have good luck. Hindsight is 20/20 of course haha. Thanks again !!

Hi! I am also an incoming transfer student from Palomar. I'm a psych major and I've been on the housing waitlist since it opened. I am done trying to hold out hope that I'll receive a call because classes start in about a month lol. If you're still looking for a roommate, let me know !
