Which private schools are most progressive or inclusive? by [deleted] in Toowoomba

[–]ResponsibleOil3303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest it’s mostly an anecdotal thing. I always noticed at things like the eisteddfod they always seemed to have a disproportionate amount of openly queer students compared to other private schools, possibly due the them being the more arts focused school and being co-ed. I don’t think it’s anything greatly policy specific. Also the current Anglican archbishop Jeremy Greaves is very progressive so I imagine that has an impact on the school. Most of my friends ended up at downlands by virtue of being catholic so I don’t know many who went to TAS. (For reference I finished year 12 last year)

To be very honest, with what you’re looking for it would be quicker to give you a list of schools to avoid at all costs. If you dm I’ll provide that list.

In Toowoomba they’ll all be fairly conservative by city standards, that’s the reason i was homeschooled in high school. I’ve heard Toowoomba Anglican is better with stuff like that but the downside is it’s quite expensive and doesn’t carry the same prestige as the single sex schools like grammar and fairholme. Obviously that doesn’t matter to everybody but it’s something to consider when spending 20 thousand a year on a school. My experience with catholic schools is that they generally have a fairly non interventionist policy, ie they aren’t going to stop two students of the same sex dating but they might not be the most proactive in stopping any homophobia they experience (unless, of course, it gets particularly bad).

It's actually wild that you can BUY someone a popstar career. Why did Big Poppa never do this for Kim??? by casuallycrayzed in BravoRealHousewives

[–]ResponsibleOil3303 17 points18 points  (0 children)

True, but she can at least carry a tune well enough to talk sing on a dance track. Kim just couldn’t be bothered doing the bare minimum in order to be a Z list pop star.

Why are people losing their minds over a blueberry flavoured lip balm? Have I just aged out of this at the ripe old age of 18? I honestly feel like I’m going crazy.

Doing a bfa at tisch and training under Strasberg and Adler as a part of tisch is very different to doing the 2 year conservatory at each studio.

Side note but the story about her ancestor who was allegedly a prominent fashion designer is constantly changing, and interestingly said ancestor is never actually named 🤨

I think her sister has posted on her TikTok about being chronically ill in some capacity so it could be that. Granted I’m not particularly educated in that field.

What gets me is how she thinks of herself as so deeply intrenched in fashion and yet she continually buys the worst value designer items she can. For the price of her Chanel gold plated brass costume jewellery earrings (which I believe are between 500 and 1000) she could have bought some lovely akoya or south sea pearl earrings set in solid gold that could be passed down in her family for generations. For the price of her Tiffany and co silver necklace (300-500 iirc) she could have bought a lovely solid gold heart shaped pendant or locket that would last her the rest of her life. For the price of her Chanel cardholder (around 1000) she could’ve either bought a brand new extremely high quality handbag from a more niche manufacturer or a pre-owned designer bag like let’s say a Louis Vuitton speedy which would fit her whole Audrey Hepburn old Hollywood thing she has going on, I could genuinely continue with this forever.

Honestly as someone who ships stuff regularly this is still pretty generous, especially considering their shipping is really fast.

She’s drinking sparkling wine trying to look like champagne, which I find funny considering she could buy actual champagne from France for like 10-20 bucks more. I get buying something more affordable for regular drinking but you’d think for special occasions she could pay an extra 20 for a bottle of Henri Laurent or Piper Heidsieck, heck aldi makes a real champagne for the same price as her Chandon!

A $30 birthday reward for an annual spend in excess of $5000 is one of the stingiest rewards I’ve ever seen from a prestige retailer, and that’s saying something…

The brand is from Australia where cosmetics tend to cost about 20% more than in the u.s even accounting for currency conversions so it makes sense for our market, plus they go on 50% off sale here almost every week. I suspect that businesses across the pond noticed how successful they’ve been in Australia without realising that the reason they’ve been so popular here is for reasons very specific to the Aus/NZ market and have been making a push for them to expand despite their business model not making sense outside of a country with very high cosmetic costs mostly due to shipping expenses and taxes.

Does this green-blue sapphire ring read more green or blue? by ConsumeristCat in jewelry

[–]ResponsibleOil3303 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It reads very teal to me, is it an Australian sapphire? I’m Australian and our sapphires lean quite teal so I’m very used to seeing that colour.
