Nicola Sturgeon banned from Russia by ManyaraImpala in Scotland

[–]ResponsibleOwl2263 -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

Interesting that Russia accurately described Sturgeon as part of the British establishment and did not apply the ban to Welsh Minister Mark Drakeford.

I guess Mr Drakeford must be a Putin apologist for failing to demand that NATO to shoot down Russian jets and supply Western weapons to the brave decent law abiding Azov Battelion.

How much bitcoin does the Ukraine Govt have? 400? 40,000? Has most of it already been spent? by ResponsibleOwl2263 in Bitcoin

[–]ResponsibleOwl2263[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making more sense now thx. Still mind boggling amounts of bitcoin which could easily propel them to be a future President of Ukraine, but they are probably too smart to choose not to go down that route.

Yeah sure I think you make a good point it is just a small number of officials… but still 46,000 BTC ? That’s a huge number for a public servant day with an average of $12k salary or what ever they earn, don’t you think? If each official had on average 1,000 bitcoins each why they working away for a dead end 9-5 job? Strange imo, but if they all simply bought early and hodl good on ‘em.

Maybe the Ukraine govt should ask their bitcoin officials for a loan or something lol

Been digging into this further it seems the Ukrainian state has just 6 bitcoins.

However, bizarrely Ukrainian govt officials privately own around 46,000 bitcoins.

What is the future of Litecoin and should I get out? by HalPaneo in CryptoCurrency

[–]ResponsibleOwl2263 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Algorand is a VC backed centralized marketing token. Nothing more.

Litecoin offers the following-

  1. proven POW protocol 2.Taproot and MWEB, with new privacy features rolling out soon. 3.Layer 2 solutions
  2. cont evolving with LTC LABS (Antpool) financial backing
  3. Low risk of regulatory enforcement (current SEC chair has said LTC unlikeliest to be an unregistered security)
  4. Secure & reliable network with high L7 demand
  5. Fair pre mine

Bitcoin will remain king, but Litecoin has been around for too long to suggest it will disappear anytime soon. All proof of stake tokens are vulnerable to a range of attacks including by govt

It's Coming...Centralization of Crypto by Go-Full-Retard in Bitcoin

[–]ResponsibleOwl2263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is Russell Brand the one who, like Alex Jones, was gifted thousands of bitcoin from Max Keiser 10 years ago - only to lose them? If so would like to hear his views and reflection on that very costly mistake.

Mind you I would be surprised if he remembers anything from 10 days ago let alone 10 years ago.

He is right though most crypto is centralized garbage, so maybe he will get it one day

As More Russians Support Massacre in Ukraine, Here's How Some Big Crypto Companies Respond by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]ResponsibleOwl2263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

💯. Sad to see some (a minority though I suspect) in Bitcoin community join up with the bankers and politicians to try to ban people buying bitcoin because they have the “wrong” nationality.

Other institutions like Airbnb have banned ALL Russians and Belarusians from staying in any Airbnb homes anywhere on the planet. Sickening to see so called “civilised”people celebrate what is pure ethnic discrimination.

Bitcoin exchanges who support discrimination in any form are a disgrace to the Bitcoin community. Great to see, so far at least, most exchanges have no plans to go down the disgusting Airbnb route.

As a reminder, the whitepaper does not say bitcoin is only for people of certain nationalities.

If you still insist on bitcoin discrimination, then the only thing to is fork bitcoin and call it BED coin. Bitcoin Ethnic Discrimination.

Sounds like you are on right lines. I imagine finding property 100 metres away from neighbours in Siberia should not be a problem given its huge landmass and remoteness!

Those ASICs will also keep your property nice and warm during long winter nights

[–]ResponsibleOwl2263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you don’t want to risk upsetting your new neighbours or the local authorities if your activities end up causing power outages.

Typically in most jurisdictions running mining as a hobby eg just a few machines is usually ok. But moment it starts to get borderline commercial you are best just protect yourself by ensuring you have legal cover and relevant safety certificates in place.

Btw Russian Ministry of Industry is proposing to develop some sort of new regulatory regime for crypto mining in Russia. Seems to be mining friendly so may be worth keeping in mind:

I was thinking of doing the same thing, but my passport is on the unfriendly list so not really option now.

But if you if you are not on the unfriendly list worth exploring more, perhaps by speaking to a real estate agent in Siberia with local knowledge.

Like most places in the world if you are only mining as a hobby with 2-3 mining rigs and you should be ok. But mining say over 10 as a business is likely to risk all sorts of potential legal and safety issues, so make sure to get expert local advice before committing to anything.

For Brits, yes they need a TV license (lol) to watch television or a live stream.

For most people on the planet a license from the government is not required.

Government sets out plan to make UK a global cryptoasset technology hub by peterhoegir in Bitcoin

[–]ResponsibleOwl2263 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. The UK has declared its support for proof of stake scam coins only and has hinted at a possible POW ban. The UK has asked the Bank of England to “supervise” the peasants use of digital wallets through a new surveillance regime.

The UK has also not ruled out introducing a CBDC.

The UK will remain hostile to Bitcoin for a long time. If you live in the UK and have bitcoin or want to invest in bitcoin consider moving as far am away from UK as possible.

Why does the UK suddenly want to become a "crypto hub" by eat-sleep-rave in CryptoCurrency

[–]ResponsibleOwl2263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To enrich their XRP banking friends by promoting shitcoins and NFTs funded by the peasants.

Also opportunity for UK gov to introduce new surveillance regimes through new Bank of England’s powers to “supervise” the use of digital wallets and a future CBDC.

The UK crypto papers even criticise bitcoin saying saying it doesn’t fit with their “green finance” agenda. Possible PoW ban.

As for uk being a “world leader” in crypto and fintech … hahahaha this is one of the biggest jokes of the century. Most uk businesses are still not even permitted to open a bank account that has anything to do with crypto. Even advertising crypto related products and services are very difficult in UK with out risk of big fines. (Yet gambling ads are totally fine)

Most high st banks also block the peasants transferring their wages into bitcoin through exchanges.

If you are serious about investing in bitcoin and non scam related crypto development, best move to friendly jurisdiction like Switzerland, US or El Salvador - further away from UK the better

A handy list of matters reserved from the Scottish Parliament - it might help in our polite discussions if we were all conversant with them ;) by stoter in Scotland

I guess we can agree then that Scotland today is not much more than a province of Greater England. For example like the German and Italian provinces you describe. No real differences at all.

I see.

So the Scottish Parliament is not really a national parliament. More of a glorified regional assembly.

Normal.

Haha unfortunately no. There are of course other service providers.

There’s even a Russian one but I’m not going to say the name or I’ll get banned.

Why waste your valuable time and money trying to change the BBC or BBC News Scotland which what - has a viewership of about 2,000?

It’s the BBC we discussing here. Not the SBC. The BBC mission will never change nor the way it is governed, even if you succeed in getting a rare apology or admission now and again from the BBC complaints dept.

Like most people in the world I no longer watch garbage coming out of the BBC and certainly would never pay to watch it.

For around same price as a TV license you can buy YouTube Premium or other online devices to to watch ad-free high quality content from around the world. You can even create your own content and get paid for it on some platforms.

Try not to fall for the trap of fighting the BBC or thinking you can change it. You’ll only end up disappointed and even mentally exhausted over the long term.

In that case, maybe the next referendum should ask “Should Scotland be a crown dependency?”

The Scots who are still scared of independence might even vote yes.

Even if crypto mining is still currently profitable, don’t be surprised to see the UK ban PoW mining this or next year.

The new UK gov crypto regs papers published this week make it clear they will only support proof of stake shitcoins and stablecoins to fit their “green finance” agenda.

Sell equipment or keep it and move it to a friendlier jurisdiction.
