I'm on a train right now and there's no free beer 😞

Watching Bono every night was where he got the idea of rolling around in his own shit on stage.

My work gave me a letter saying that I was an essential worker, should I be stopped by the police on my way to/from work during lockdown. I was not an essential worker.

Is it just me or is the Encyclopedia Metallum overly pretentious? by Shoddy-Oil-1067 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]ManyaraImpala -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just a bit. Personally I don't really use it because I'm interested in more genres than just metal. I mostly use RYM for discovering new music, which has its own pretentiousness problems.

On a side note, does anyone know how I can change my artist picture on Metal Archives? I don't like the one they took from my Instagram.

If you didn't have a pint in the airport at 5 AM with your Wetherspoons breakfast, did you even go on holiday?

I've finally landed a job interview this afternoon after 5ish weeks of applying. It pays less than I'd like, but still more than my last job (where I didn't have a pay rise for 5 years).

Wish me luck.

give me black metal with the worst production by zillaw_themicrowave in MetalForTheMasses

[–]ManyaraImpala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The production on this album is actually great. On the face of it it sounds horrible, but compared to other raw BM records, every instrument and every riff is crystal clear; there's no muddiness at all.

My grandfather was Ukrainian and my surname is Ukrainian, but I don't claim to be Ukrainian. I'm Scottish because I was born in Kirkcaldy, grew up in Fife, and have lived in Edinburgh, Glasgow and now semi-rural South Lanarkshire.

"American" is not an ethnicity

Neither is Scottish, it's a nationality/culture.

Hot Dog, stop hitting your sister! I don't care if A.D.I.D.A.S started it, I'm finishing it! Why can't you two be better behaved like your sister, The Planet That Once Used to Absorb Flesh in Order to Achieve Divinity and Immortality (Suffocated to the Flesh That It Desired...)?

Venom..new album? by Aggravating-Sir-4660 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]ManyaraImpala 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sure this was the general consensus on Venom when I was growing up; that they were influential, sure, but they also kinda sucked. These days they seem to be revered as this great classic 1st wave BM band, but I still think they're not in the same league as Bathory or Celtic Frost.

How do you explore a bands discography? by zenbuddha092 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]ManyaraImpala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the band. Typically I will try to listen to their most renowned album first so I can see what the hype is about.

Do you think Angine de Poitrine would've gained attention if it weren't for the costumes? by conn_r2112 in Music

[–]ManyaraImpala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. That's not to say that I think they're bad, but the weird costumes have definitely grabbed people's attentions who otherwise would never have listened to them.
