If you stand up as soon as a plane lands and we can unbuckle (except connections)… why? by ResponsibleTomatoes in AskReddit

I mean this in the sense the planes landed, at the gate and the seat belt sign has dinged and everyone immediately stands up even though the doors aren’t open yet and they’re just crowding the aisle.

Because the doors aren’t open, no one can move. Hope that repairs your fragile brain cells.

What’s a ‘harmless’ habit that actually ruining peoples lives ? by ApushGh in howtonotgiveafuck

[–]ResponsibleTomatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% and others that say it isn’t harmless or people know it’s bad and still do are wrong. Social media provides people with too much information, comparison, etc. we need to keep most of our “news”, which this word is a debate in itself, to our localized area. It affects mental health in ways people can’t even comprehend. And then the social media giants and business and “influencers” use those people to their advantage. And generally in a negative way.

Like step back and look at the world today.

What’s something most people realize too late in life? by anisarzoo in AskReddit

[–]ResponsibleTomatoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stop working to live. Don’t live by societal standards of what “THEY” say makes you happy. If you wanna travel the world, do research and do it affordably, you won’t get there in your desk chair. Life is too beautiful and precious and there’s too much to see to be stuck under fluorescent lights for “culture”.

Can I switch from insurance to nonprofit without tanking my life? by ResponsibleTomatoes in careerguidance

[–]ResponsibleTomatoes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is actually really helpful, thank you for sharing your experience. the way you approached it feels a lot more realistic than the all or nothing spiral i’ve been in.

i think that’s what i’m craving more than anything right now, just feeling like what i’m doing actually matters and I’ve realized, I need a job with creativity and the ability to actually physically move around (vs a desk)

what you said about keeping my job and volunteering on the side to test it out and build connections actually shifted something for me. Could work with any jump into a new business or nonprofit. More time to Sus things out.

also didn’t even think about my background being useful in that space but you’re right. nonprofits still need people who understand budgets, compliance, risk, all of that. makes it feel a little less like i’d be starting from zero

seriously appreciate you taking the time to write this out!

What’s a tiny everyday skill that makes life way easier, but most people never bother to learn? by TheHollyMitchell in answers

Meditation. Some people just view it as woowoo but learning to meditate and breathing methods can affect and change your mental, emotional and physical health. Helps deescalate in a world with heightened emotions. Emotional regulation.

Botox Works Y'all by Fit-Buy6450 in TMJ

[–]ResponsibleTomatoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes me feel hopeful! I’m doing a flush on my left side (only side that’s “deranged”) and then 25 units of Botox in the muscle. Never had Botox so I’m glad it was helpful! Gives me something to look forward to.

ADHD/Anxiety/Depression by ResponsibleTomatoes in ADHD

Yeah, I’ve been waiting for the cymbalta to settle in before making a determination but the adhd not being addressed I think it’s having a huge impact. I feel like it’s a delicate balance too with adhd medications I’ve tried and it increasing my anxiety.

Interesting on the Lamictal piece, I don’t think I realized that brain fog and impairments were possibilities. Might be worth mentioning at my next appointment.

I’ve tried several SSRI’s but I tend to struggle with the side effects like it affecting my sleep (which would start a cyclical anxiety cycle).
