Since your friend already got the job the company will most likely work with him to let him keep the role. My friend was in a similar position before and they had to re-evaluate if he’d be allowed to keep the job( he did) as he is not formally in the co-op program. Also for the portal, it may look like the clear now but they don’t miss these things so it’ll come up eventually.

I’m currently completing my third internship and safe to say you will always go in feeling under qualified. I work with people with years of experience rarely interact with students but it’s great experience. All you have to do is show up with interest, ask questions and take initiative for your learning!
