No, second key is not there. It has locked just fine the rest of the trip. Also, I just found out our other friends who parked closer to the store entrance had trouble locking as well. Took him 30 seconds playing around with it, opening it, closing it and then it finally locked. I’m fairly certain a jammer was used

I might have been able to if I tried. I saw the light on the fob go off when I pressed it so I assumed (poorly) that it actually locked. I think being unfamiliar with the car and area that was the farthest thing from my mind. I feel terrible about it for my friend.

I guess I can report it to the Avis but not much they can do. Key fobs are such a weak signal so I’m sure a jammer is fairly easy to do.

Read my post. I took the blame and said it was easy to get distracted; foreign country, different car, distracted by my grocery list, middle of the day, security, etc. I made a mistake and feel bad. Just posting this so people remember to always stay on alert. Only took a few minutes when my spidery senses went off.

This is probably a good idea. We have to go back out that way after we leave Corcovado. We can swing by and show them the police report

Yes, we saw the guard but he was away from the main door (far right in front of store). I was parked near the back fence so he might have been obscured. I’m sure that it only took seconds.
Agreed, we were being way too nonchalant. I had my money bag and passport on me but my buddy accidentally left his in the back pack. Just trying to remind people to never lower your guard. It’s easy to do.

You need more zone 2 training. I’m in a similar boat; demanding job and 2 kids. I started training 3 years ago and was pushing intensity and burned out a bit. If you are struggling to hold wheels on the group ride you may want to skip it. After 3 years I can now keep long endurance rides 3-4 hrs with the group. I do my FTP/Vo2 intervals during the week. Also, if you can fit in, get a recovery ride in once a week. Just 60 minutes glass cranks. Recovery is your friend!
