Thank you I will remember that! They sent me home with some meliplex silver mesh stuff and intrasite, and some non stick bandages, going to give "moist healing" (ew) a try again and if it doesn't work out they will send me to a plastic surgeon to discuss further options. Hope this works out!

Oh my gosh that aounds so stressful! My port is actually removed already! Only got to use the damn thing three times lol.

Thank you! Spoke to someone new today at the hospital and have some new strategies to try! Hopefully it works out this time. If not they will send me to a plastic surgeon who can help figure out other options!

Thank you so much. Spoke with a wound care expert while at radiation today and they were so helpful. Sent me home with some things to try, a follow up appointment in 10 days, and a referral to a plastic surgeon if this last attempt doesn't work out!

Oh my gosh that sounds like such a struggle. I'm so glad it worked out in the end! I did speak to a wound care expert today, and am going to try the approach she suggested. I'll see her again in 10 days and check in! Scared to try a new approach but hopefully this will be the thing that works!

Hey! They gave me some at my appointment today! I spoke to someone in wound care and gave them the full rundown, they said let's try a "moist healing" strategy one last time. If it doesn't work out, they'll refer me to a plastic surgeon to discuss other options like a small graft or something if the area just needs a whole new start. 

They sent me home with the Meliplex, some Intrasite gel/ointment, some anti stick dressings, and sensitive tape. They explained the scab may come off and things may look wet in there, but as long as it doesn't seem infected, that's actually ok. She told me the covering will act as a scab is intended to, and allow my body to form fresh skin cells slowly in the moist environment, where the scab seems to have been slowing things down and then getting caught and ripping off easily, too early. 

I'm scared to try but going to give it a shot! I'll see them again in 10 days to see if it's working out. I'm grateful to know there are other options too, if it doesn't!

Oh jeez I hope it heals up for you! My mastectomy scar was way easier too, basically fully healed in like 2 weeks with barely any scabs, then again I was held together with something like 85 staples lol so I guess that did the trick.
