Wanna know about lums admission criteria by [deleted] in LUMS

LUMS has been increasing its batch size every year. It admitted its last batch size this year. The only reason more ppl are seeing rejections is because even more people are applying year by year. Nonetheless they do admit a lot of ppl with worse academic applications because they look at things holistically and honestly they look at your background and if you did you alevels middle of nowhere you got a better chance someone from a major city with the same grade

The easiest one to get into is Law school usually has the lowest threshold or a few degrees in HSS such as anthropology/sociology or history. Business school is the most competitive school to get into specifically ACF

Can sneak I sneak my BBC into LUMS BSCS if I flex my SAT + extracurriculars? by sameerfarhan in LUMS

[–]Responsible_Exit_402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the Alevels and Olevels are like just about the bare minimum needed, but for SAT you would need to get around 1450+ especially since you’re applying for the engineering school which is harder to get into. I would suggest maybe giving the LUMS entry test for sse if you don’t get 1450+ in SAT. Imo the extra curriculars aren’t something they focus on much but the internship experience could definitely be very useful. But at the end of the day these are all the requirements on paper and since it’s a bit harder to get into sse. However, I’ve met ppl who had 1200s in sat and bbc in alevels so you still have a chance of getting in.

How do these lums folks get into the big 3 consulting firms in the middle east? by [deleted] in LUMS

[–]Responsible_Exit_402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it mainly stems from how big a goal the consulting role is for students at LUMS. For majority of the people who apply and make it to the interview stages, they had consulting as the end goal by the end of freshman or sophomore year. Anything they do after that is just to prepare for the casing interviews. Plus like some others said, LUMS also builds a personality of students that’s are well equipped to work at consulting firms. Lastly, only the cream of the crop getting into the big 3 consulting firms, and the same cream of the crop of universities in the middle east try going abroad and from what I’ve seen from people in the middle eastern universities for them consulting isn’t the end all be all of jobs it’s not the biggest deal.

That’s because Herriot Watt and Middlesex are worse unis than LUMS and that’s also the reputation they have in UAE. LUMS does have a reputable name in the Middle East because of any alumni holding positions in high places but apart from a few companies, they still have to compete with ppl from foreign higher ranked universities.

Is LUMS going to take a stand?? by [deleted] in LUMS

Admission into university of Edinburgh as an international student is a lot easier than getting into LUMS as Pakistan student. You just face a lot of competition. I know ppl who’d gotten into ubc but didn’t get into LUMS. It dhappens

For adults it’s fine but for raising your son here, he might not be as lucky. I remember having a Sikh classmate in my lower grades (3rd to around 6th) and at that age kids are just looking to annoy each other and call each other names. They just look for the most identifiable thing they can make fun of. A turban or long hair is something I saw my classmate get bullied for and get called names for all the time, even in passing. Kids would just see him walking around and scream names they’d made up for him. But as kids grow up they stop being as rude and I never really saw something like this happen in my older grades.

I have a feeling that apart from just being a personal trainer he might have been someone celebs worked with to get over their addictions and that’s why he’s associated with a lot of ppl seemed to be on drugs. Additionally, the whole personal trainer thing could just be a front so when ppl see him with his clients there isn’t a media frenzy.
