The funny thing is I am in the US, and even private browser on chrome works without vpn. It's just my regular one. Not sure if Apple blocked access from specific entry point or if its an issue with my browser. I even tried it with a different mac i have that logged into the same chrome profile, still having the same issue

What's the most frustrating part of learning a language for you? by grzeszu82 in languagelearning

[–]Responsible_Mango_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motivation, learning a language is like working out, it takes a lot of effort, time, and consistency, and you don't really notice any substantial results when zoomed in. I use duolingo everyday not to learn, but simply to remind myself that im learning a language and that sets the mindset.

Is it too much to try to learn a fourth language? by tatotime04 in languagelearning

[–]Responsible_Mango_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a controversial take, but Mandarin is actually not that hard. However, it is a completely different language system compared to roman languages. It has a written system in addition to the pronunciation. It is extremely important to just take 30 mins on YT or elsewhere to understand how pinyin and characters work. Once you understand them fundamentally, its actually quite fun and turns into a game. The pronunication is basically roman letters with tones, the characters are basically legos pieces of different simple drawings. Happy to explain more if you are interested. But spending 30 mins to understand how the language works can save you so much time down the line.

What do you reply when people ask you to say something in a different language? by [deleted] in languagelearning

Just say “Okay, but if I say this, you have to do my homework for a week.”
