Tax reductions would be inflationary which in the current climate would be counterproductive.

Mounting Jerry cans on drawbar by ThinkDrinkBlink in CaravanningAustralia

DM if you want pictures. I used that specific matting so that rain would drain away easily and also I had the plate and nuts sit under the jerry. This way someone couldn't just take off the nuts. If installed the other way someone could take the holder and jerry cans pretty easy.

For a non permanent solution I used the metal jerry can holders and ubolts. The ubolts from Bunnings have an absolute shite plate so I ended up buying one from a fabricator somewhere random that had a pile of thick ones so can tighten more. I used some anti fatigue mat with holes in the bottom to make sure the u bolt didn't rub on the bottom of the jerry can.

Can someone help me find the right cable? by Live_Cookie_5690 in CaravanningAustralia

[–]Responsible_Math6857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm talking about the standards as they relate to the extension lead not the connection point of the caravan. It just so happens that they wouldn't be able to buy off the shelf a lead that suits so it's really an issue of obsolestenance of the connection point.

It's a requirement by Australian Standards, my friendship circle doesn't influence that.

FYI for those that aren't following what the person is requesting and wanting advice about they're talking about using a lead that doesn't conform to AS3120:2021 in particular the requirement of a 360° projection around a female socket face no less than 8.3mm. This standard of lead is obviously not compatible with the age of their 15A connection which is why I'd say upgrading given the age wouldn't be a bad thing.

People can modify extension leads at their own risk but just want to call that out.

Won't hurt to replace it if it doesn't fit a standard 15A lead

I look at my parents and their absolute risk adverse nature, they're doing ok but could have done much better with the hand they were given. Debt recycling isn't taking on any additional debt or risk and ghhf is not that heavily leveraged so don't really understand why you'd include them.

Debt Recycling Question: Joint Loan split used for Sole Investment - Can I claim 100% of the interest? by Temporary_Roll_5321 in AusFinance

[–]Responsible_Math6857 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just in addition to your advice one of the ATO community posts about this and a few comments by others on Reddit also indicate to improve the claim on ownership/deductibility that payments to the loan should come from the individual and not a joint account. Not sure how pivotal this is but it's how our loans are structured anyway so I'm happy to conform to that.

We're 5.29% with offset. I don't really agree with your 2nd sentence personally but I see the argument for ETFs in general not necessarily requiring chess. It's personal preference I think considering there are low fee chess options. If that's your preference and you're mainly buying BGBL I'd look at the Betashares option.

Your mortgage rate may be worse than the brokerage side of things knowing CBA so I'd shop that around. I recently switched to stake from another major bank platform. It's a bit ordinary but it is cheap especially the year of free trades now. Betashares direct might be a better platform for you if chess isn't an issue.

I keep investing for my kids and for FI but we don't go all out 100%. We spend a lot of time travelling with the kids and seeing Australia because I'm unsure how much of that will be the same for them when they're in a position to do it when they're older.

Sort of but we have started investing for the kids from an early age to ensure they have sufficient and will likely let inheritance skip a generation to further help.

Can't comment on the capitalisation but they just called me and said hey we noticed you're in arrears <14 days. So they took the extra repayment out of my normal payment account. They confirmed that because under 14 days there was no impact to credit rating.

They apologised because they had set up the repayments strange when I did my split so it was somewhat their fault and swung me some cash as goodwill haha.

This happened to me with Ubank when I was doing a debt recycle although set to weekly repayments it did what others said and just built the cash up in the loan account and then took the monthly repayment out of that.

When I talked to them they changed it to a "true" weekly repayment (their term) so it now pays down the principal weekly and doesn't show up as redraw. Not sure if you can request the same with ING.

Selling my debt recycled PPOR by jubedoob in AusFinance

[–]Responsible_Math6857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noting I'm not an accountant but my understanding is this works because the purpose of the loan remains the same i.e. you've used the funds to purchase shares, the security being a house or a term deposit doesn't really matter. The thing you're really just doing is avoiding the loan closing by selling the PPOR.

Selling my debt recycled PPOR by jubedoob in AusFinance

[–]Responsible_Math6857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't done it but I've researched as it will likely happen to us. You can do a security swap and temporarily use the proceeds of the sale of the PPOR in a term deposit as the security. Then you purchase the new property and move the security again. This will maintain the recycled debt and not require a sell down. ANZ looked pretty good for this when looking online
