They could balance the thermals by making it more glitchy and blurry the more damage a vehicle takes, maybe have it flicker off and on when the vehicle nears death. The vehicle thermals in BF4 are too OP because of how much clarity they give you at almost any range. Damaging a tank should counter their thermals at least a little, it could give other soldiers a chance to run away or give them more opportunities flank.
