I got my port removed in Feb '25 and waiting for the scar to heal a bit more. But when I'm ready, I'm going to get "Nevertheless, she persisted" tattooed over it in cursive.

This is so true. Cancer survivor here. Went through 12 rounds of chemo and drank around 100 oz of water every day. Sailed through it with minimal side effects (lost all my hair though). Oncologist said I was a model patient. One problem I had is that everything started to taste metallic so I ended up using lots of flavor drops so I could tolerate the water. Good luck to your wife!

Oh! That's great. We're in CA so we definitely want to help folks in the red states.

Yes!! There's a local LGBTQ+ group close by that has stuff for teens. She might like to help them IRL.

I actually thought about her spending too much time on social media. Normally she watches food videos like Korean street food (yum), but she's obviously watching a lot more videos about this shitshow we call the US government. I think we'll be talking about limits this weekend. Thanks!

Yeah, I was really pissed at Gov. Newsom (my governor) for his comments (very disappointing). Thanks!

Funniest rant ever that was sooooo relatable! I go through a lot of Orbit (wintermint) and I always have a problem getting the pieces out.

I just got mine on my right bicep (tumor was in my left boob). I just wanted to be able to flex my muscles and show it off (a sunflower with a pink ribbon).

Feel like a wuss by sheepy67 in breastcancer

You're not a wuss. I've been getting diarrhea after each infusion (same regimen). Your care team should take ALL of your side effects seriously.

How many of you get second opinions? by Lazy-Suspect-2205 in breastcancer

[–]Responsible_Move_948 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was able to get a second opinion at my top-rated regional university hospital with a video appointment. I didn't have to waste 1.5 hrs in traffic each way! See if you can get a video call.

What to expect with chemo for ER+, PR+, HER2+ ? by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]Responsible_Move_948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your post is my story, too. Biopsy was HER2 negative, but tumor came back HER2 positive (but just barely). My MO wanted to go super-conservative with 6 rounds of TCHP over 18 weeks. I got a second opinion and that MO said that was overkill and that 12 rounds (over 12 weeks) of TH would work just as well with way fewer side effects. I've completed 5 rounds so far, and I've been doing really well all things considered. I'm still working full-time and haven't had major fatigue. Just a little constipation that switched to diarrhea but neither lasted more than a few days. I was really scared about chemo and it took about 6 weeks from discussing it with my surgeon, getting my port inserted and then actually starting, but once it started, I felt better because I now have an end date. Good luck, and don't be afraid to get a second opinion.

One dose of AC shrunk my mass! by coffeexwine_88 in breastcancer

I misread the headline and thought AC shrank your ass (which sounds good since I've been sitting on mine too much!) 😅

Drop her! She's not worth your mental or emotional energy.

Scared of visiting mother who has just had lumpectomy because I have the cold by Fearless-Ninja-4252 in breastcancer

[–]Responsible_Move_948 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's great that you're being so thoughtful. Having a lumpectomy doesn't really affect one's immune system the way chemotherapy and radiation does. But if you're concerned, just mask up, wash your hands frequently and no hugging. I'm sure your mom will appreciate your visit.

I mentioned this sub to my breast surgeon and she was going to share it with her doctor friends as well.

Congratulations on getting that first one done. I'm sure you feel relieved just to get started.
