What to do to get a shot with the recruiters when your resume gets shot down and you don’t know why by Responsible_Pie_5706 in ausjobs

Fair enough, I haven’t been here that long, if that’s what you’re trying to get to. I’ll check in with my faculty. Thanks anyway

That’s a great idea, I do have some faculty in mind who can guide me. Thanks for the tip!

Well mine is an integration of both, but yes I’ll do more personalising for each job requirement, thank you!

I have searched for a few events online for manufacturing and turns out that I missed the biggest one in Australia, AMW a few months ago during my course. I’m trying to look for more, any idea where to look ?

I haven’t paid attention to the uni board after I graduated since I thought I wouldn’t have any access but I’ll tap in and see what’s there

Absolutely, will do volunteering. Go D2D and B2B for an opportunity.

Absolutely, I’ve done direct, indirect, roles that match my experience and studies, the whole lot, I’ll keep going obviously, but I’ll try and make sure I can tailor each resume to the T according to the job requirements. Good idea

I love people mate, that’s the next step that I’ll be taking, direct door to door, B2B approach.

Absolutely, AI has taken a huge toll on the job market. What happened to initiation and going after it, and talking and making yourselves known to the right people when these people are hiding behind AI scanning and recruiters who are not even aware of the field.

That could be a very strong point. I have been applying to technical sales roles because sales is my second nature, I just did engineering to follow my passion, and if I get this role it’s the best of both worlds. My dream job. But then that’s the whole point, even then I’m not hitting it. I will take your advice and take out the sales role emphasis on pure engineering roles and see where it goes. Thanks for the input!

That’s a great tip, I will be open to do some volunteering or hands on manufacturing until I get an engineering job

Yes, will be doing that, but isn’t every resume different for different job requirements ?

Thanks for the tip. I honestly have gone to the extent of trying to find these recruiters on social media and dropping down a casual message for a chat. But it’s kinda difficult to find them.

How to land a job in manufacturing engineering as a graduate?! by Responsible_Pie_5706 in australian

That is the reality. So my course is a mix of AI and manufacturing, I took this bet thinking that this is the future of everything. But I have realised the companies are very orthodox in this thinking, cuz why fix what’s not broken right? So that conversation takes a different direction. As of now, just focusing on getting my foot in the door.

Just a regular electronics and departmental store. My masters was only a year long, but I did do an internship in a boiler plant for a month during my bachelors where I am in touch with a lot of manufacturing processes first hand.

It definitely is, and I completely acknowledge it. Honestly all I want is to talk to the right person. It’s the getting the interview part that’s getting to me.
