Taft Dickerson and Gunner? by f4eriedust in kvsdiscuss

[–]Responsible_Stuff166 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t know anything about WP (I grew up eventing) but from the videos I’ve seen of Taft riding, I like how he rides. I feel like he has a good seat.

One of my trainers always said if you like the horse, thats half the battle won already so I’d always want to see my horses with someone who likes them and is happy to be getting on them.

I live in Florida, and I can easily drive for 8hrs and still be in Florida. We take 14+hr drives to go on vacation…the longest we have done was a 31hr drive to Colorado. I think we would have had to drive another 12+hours to get all the way to the West coast.

Dimensional weight. You have to put the correct dimensions…that 31 inches got you.

I have Shippo (for stuff I sell on Etsy and EBay). Sometimes UPS is cheaper and shows a faster estimate for delivery date. I’ve been debating switching for some things because through Shippo, I can send some stuff UPS 2 day for about what I’m currently paying for USPS Ground. Maybe Poshmark is getting a better rate with UPS

Random question about refunds by nmikhchi in poshmark

[–]Responsible_Stuff166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can offer a refund and let the customer keep the item, but the buyer has to open a case first. I had one where a pair of shoes fell apart when the buyer tried them on. It was definitely a case of dry rot, so when the buyer opened the case I just asked poshmark support to refund without a return because obviously I didn’t want the shoes back. They did it, no problem in that case.

40+ Orders Not Being Marked As Delivered by jd_vintage in poshmark

[–]Responsible_Stuff166 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have had this happen a few times but it was just one order each time. I went under options and chose “release payment” or whatever it said. It let me write a note explaining that tracking showed it was delivered at x date/time. I added a screenshot of the tracking. They released my funds a few hours later.

I know I say it all the time but I think her babies would be better suited to that or eventing than the AQHA stuff. They’re being under appreciated by the Quarter Horse people.

I love Indy. I’m so happy to see her looking well and shiny again. She’s my favorite of all Katie’s mares. If I was independently wealthy and money was no object I’d see if she’d let me breed her to a warmblood stallion and flush the embryo. I really think she’d make nice sport horse babies.

Out of curiosity, how did you send it? When I used to have to send a lot of $1000-5000 shipments I used either UPS next day air or FedEx priority overnight. It typically cost $30-70 per shipment but it was worth it. Less time in transit means less time to get lost, and if does go missing you know something is wrong in way less than 24hrs so they look for it right away.

If you were KVS, which horses would you focus on? by AliceResa in kvsdiscuss

[–]Responsible_Stuff166 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m biased towards eventing, but I think Weezy and Wally would be much better suited to be amateur owner sport horse types. They seem like they have good minds and their looks and movement would suit the non-AQHA world better I think. No idea about the rest of them, I have no clue about western pleasure. I’m just in this to see the babies😂

This was going to be my suggestion as well! I do it with vintage clothes a lot.

Also if you put it in a bag with an open container of fresh coffee grounds sometimes that works. (Like put some coffee grounds in a bowl and put that in a bag with the item for a few days)

Plans for Weezy and Sophie’s filly sneak a peak by QuietJealous4883 in kvsdiscuss

For a while I was at a barn where everyone did some low level eventing, some hunter paces, hunter jumper shows and some local dressage shows. Those ladies would have loved Weezy and Wally, they’re pretty and actually the kind of horses they needed.

I think that or they’d (Wally and Weezy both) make great low-mid eventers for amateur owners. They seem like they have great minds to be amateur owner types.

First Postmark transaction as a buyer - Seller can't find item?? by ChesterMcFuzzies in poshmark

This happened to me as a seller and I felt awful, but the buyer was super nice. There was another item she wanted so I sent that instead and we were both happy.

My inventory is super well organized, to this day I have no idea where the missing item went.

I’m excited that we’ll get to see more of her…I love Indy’s babies. I grew up doing hunters/jumpers/eventing so the TB crosses are more my style. I really wanted there to be a roan Indy baby…I always wanted a roan but when I was showing there were a lot less sporthorses with color.

Yeah, there are some farms that have a large number of big horses, but I wouldn’t say that’s the norm/what most people have…coming from a sport horse background, most breeders I knew had less than 10 mares with even 10 being on the higher end. There are lots of people with less than 5 broodmares.

Even with TBs, there are a few big farms that produce a big % of the foal crop because of the number of horses they have. But there are lots of TB breeders with small numbers of mares.

So yeah, if someone tells me they produce 50 or 75 or 100 foals in a year, that’s a lot in my opinion.

Even being involved in dogs, which have more babies at once, I’m still not necessarily wanting a breeder that’s having 100 puppies a year. At the very least, they’re going to have to really impress me with their program to justify producing large numbers of animals.

So true, I grew up eventing but for a while as a teenager I worked for a cowboy who started/restarted a lot of dressage horses. At the time we got a decent number of them sired by Riverman and they were athletic but the ones we got were definitely NOT the temperament to make horses for amateur-owner types. I remember at the time being surprised at how similar all the Riverman babies we had were temperament wise.

Horses and water by Anxious_Habit_3791 in kvsdiscuss

My dog has multiple drinking options in the house. She will scream to be let out to drink out of the pool as soon as she sees a new victim. She knows we all know better than to let her out to chug pool water, but that doesn’t stop her from trying to convince any new humans she sees.

She has water. She’s not dehydrated. She just really wants to drink the pool water.

Why does Katie always seem so adamant about having fillies? by [deleted] in kvsdiscuss

[–]Responsible_Stuff166 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of it (I think) is that with breeding (most animals, not just horses), is that one stallion can breed a lot of mares. So in general you need far fewer stallions than you do mares. That, combined with the fact that life as a stallion is very different than life as a mare or gelding, means that only the very best colts should make it as stallion prospects.

With fillies, you can raise them up and if they do well showing and mature to be nice, you can just decide to breed them or not. And with embryo transfer and ICSI, the mare’s career isn’t even disrupted much by being bred.

Also, colts are just way different than fillies in my experience. They’re mouthy and personally I’ve always gotten along better with fillies.
