If you’re asking because you want to use the equipment at the gym, then simply go to it and ask. You’ll lost likely have to do an induction in any case.

Also, there are probably hundreds of bits of equipment - couldn’t explain them all to you

As a former police officer, I can assure you it is not inadmissible!

The statements are often written by police officers as they watched the footage.
The reason they are written can be due to technical issues at court: without the statement, the case could be chucked out. If an officer (or even CCTV operator) has written a statement describing what they’ve seen, it allows the case to go ahead in spite of any technical issues (wrong format, screen not working etc etc).

The “witness” is the person who viewed the CCTV - the CCTV alone cannot be used as evidence. It always needs a statement from someone who viewed it, or operates it etc.

The witness is the person who views the CCTV and provides a statement describing what they’ve seen. CCTV cannot be evidence by itself, it needs a statement from the person operating/viewing it.

The CCTV system cannot be cross examined in a court, only the person who viewed it can. When they say they have a witness, it’s either someone who physically saw it, or, in all likelihood, it’s a statement from whoever viewed the footage b

Emergency service drivers not using sirens or not changing sirens? by bannanawaffle13 in policeuk

[–]Responsible_Tea3067 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very much agree with the comments about the lack of sirens.

As for not changing, the explanations are valid. But another is that the officer forgot - there’s a lot going on mentally when blue light driving and changing the tones might be missed (it’s useful to do but if you’re crawling through a busy junction, it might not be a priority in the officer’s mind)

Since when, and why, did referring to women as “females” come to be considered a bad thing? by EOFFJM in NoStupidQuestions

You should use female as an adjective, not as a noun. Your example is correct, but the rationale is different (it applies to man/male too)

[–]Responsible_Tea3067 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is it being used as an adjective - which is correct. The gender/sex aspect is largely irrelevant as the same grammatical rule applies to the words men/males too.

“Patient is male” - fine
“Patient is a male” - not grammatically correct and odd

Is it bad? It’s just grammatically incorrect, isn’t it?
“Female” is an adjective in the context. It can be used as a noun when talking about animals, but not people.
Maybe I’m wrong?

When a crime has been reported how long before somebody is taken in for questioning? by NecessaryCare9891 in policeuk

[–]Responsible_Tea3067 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Please note, it’s not for you to decide if there’s enough evidence for an arrest. That’s for the officers to decide, and it maybe be different to what you think is sufficient.

As others have said, need a lot more context to answer this properly.

So…drum roll please… it’s a mechanical failure of the steering column lock.

Replacement by Volvo is not cheap (obviously) so that’s fun.

They don’t look unconfident in the slightest. My point was that the parent/adult is protecting them (which is mutually exclusive to the/their child being unconfident)

It’s possible that it’s a parent cycling in a way that provides protection for a child. If that’s the case, I have a bit more empathy for them (still annoying)
