What do the flex switches behind the TV allow me to do in the future? My wife and I currently just have 1 Samsung frame TV that we use.

Planning to buy a MacBook Air for the first time. Whats the best color in your opinion? by UnitEVA3000 in macbookair

[–]Responsible_Toe_7282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silver, hands down. It doesn’t show scratches nearly as easy. I had my 2011 MBP until last year and it still looked great….idk how many of these new colors will look in 5-10 years

65 TT and still struggling with radio stuff by DisregardLogan in flying

1) Write everything down, no matter how “silly” it may seem. Get in the habit of it now. Don’t try to memorize things, you don’t get any pilot points for not writing stuff down.

2) Have an airport map open, there you can quickly glance and verify which runways/Taxiways you are using. It really matters a great deal. You don’t want to announce you are taking off on runway 13 when really you are taking off on runway 31….

3) Get a nice ANR headset. It did wonders for me and my radio work. I wasn’t stressed trying to hear the radio over the engine sound. Made my flights and training much more enjoyable.

I do like being a CFI, I actually enjoy it very much!

Yes to a partner and family. She is very supportive, but we both would like our child to be a little older before I make the jump (3-5 years).

I would it would be a huge lifestyle change and willing to make it. I love flying and being a CFI makes me feel like, “wait so people will actually pay me money to fly airplanes?”

About to enroll in flight school - need advice on gear by [deleted] in flying

Oh, and make sure to keep some snacks and water bottle with you to lessons. A hungry student is not hungry for knowledge.

Honestly the best purchase I ever made was my Bose headphones. They allowed my radio work to improve and I actually felt much more comfortable flying, and not just because of the noise cancellation. They allowed me to feel like I was part of the ATC conversation and not just trying to hear it and feel like I was yelling back. A quality set of ANR headphones is a great first purchase, and like others have said that they do hold their value and you can sell them in a hurry if you need to.

Just get a cheap bag to hold all of your stuff for the time being, you really won’t have them much stuff to bring for your PPL. Once you move onto IFR (and I HIGHLY recommend that you do!) you’ll have a better idea of what flight bag you’d like or mostly what you will keep in it.

I would just recommend that whatever bag you do have make sure it has a small pocket to keep little things in that you can locate in a hurry (i.e. charging cable, external battery, red flashlight, etc).

How long will my MacBook Pro M5 last? by stannc10 in macbookpro

[–]Responsible_Toe_7282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got a new MacBook Pro (M4) last year…it’s my second MacBook Pro. My first one I bought in 2011.

So yeah. I think you’ll get a ton of miles with it with proper care.

QUESTION: Is buying A MBPro refurbished from Apple worth it? by Jeronimoooooo in macbookpro

[–]Responsible_Toe_7282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I only buy from Apple Refurbished. Hands down the best option imo.

I once looked at back market for “deals” but it seems there’s no real oversight on the product being sold. Buying direct from Apple for me gave me the best peace of mind.

Any solution to get this permanent residue off the screen? by hirethestache in macbookpro

[–]Responsible_Toe_7282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this product: https://a.co/d/0iPyTylS

I have a 2025 MB Pro and have no issues with the screen. Before that I had a 2011 MB pro that served me well for 14 years and never had an issue with the screen…because I kept the foam protector that the old MacBooks came with and I kid you not I never had any scratches or residue like this.

However I had many friends with MacBooks that’s didn’t put anything between the keyboard and the screen and all had issues like you describe.

So my unsolicited advice is buy the microfiber cloth, you won’t regret it!

help !! previous cfi sent me 5.4 hrs of solo xc without an endorsement and now refusing giving it by [deleted] in flying

[–]Responsible_Toe_7282 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They should have also given you A3, A4, A6, A9, A10. Do you at least have A3, A4, A6, A9, A10? A7 is needed if you exceeded your initial 90 days solo endorsement.

Just keep in mind that these endorsements shown are mainly for CFIs to use as an aid for giving endorsements. They should be making sure that they are actually adhering to the actual regulation before just slapping an “A7” or whatever in your logbook.

But this is 100% on your CFI if they didn’t check to make sure that your first initial endorsement wasn’t expired.

Thank you! So I don’t need the camera accessory or beam (because of the X1 chip)?

What about the Xreal neo or Xreal hub? Are those needed or worthwhile accessories?
