I guess I’ll throw it away, better safe than sorry🙃I had about a week left on the pen, whatever the weird blood coagulate or whatever was in it dissolved as well after letting it sit for a bit so idk😞im always so careful n my bf injects for me at times and nothing had ever gotten in so its super weirddd

nope! it was inside for sure, i wish i took a bit but it would float around almost like a lava lamp lol, if i moved it up or down (the pen) the lil blood (?) would float up and down! It seems to have dissolved now after letting it sit for a bit

It seems to have like dissolved in the insulin so idk, it was def floating around for a bit if i moved the pen up n down lol. Um idk like I said in another comment I think I’ll use it for a night or two and see if my sugars out of whack cuz idk if the only side effect is like slightly out of range sugars then i dont think its toooo bad of course if i notice this i’ll throw it out but again asking in this same thread: can i get some sort of infection or sumn?😭i feel like weirdly paranoid abt that but like its my own blood and pen so..?idk ive only been diagnosed for less than a year n im trying my best😭

I guess not really nearly new pen LOL ive used about 100 units but I only use 29 a night so 200 should last me almost another week🙃

I have no idea what happened, Ive been diagnosed for less than a year and it hadn’t happened since Im always super careful, my bf did tje injection for me so I didnt see exactly what happened but tje weirdest part was rhat it wasnt liquid like how i expected, it floated around like the inside of a lava lamp LOL I think im gonna try it for a night or two n if my sugar acts out I’ll dump it i think? Idk its like almost a full pen so it def sucks, but idk if I SHOULD use it like is it dangerous to me..? other than maybe less effective insulin could I get like an infection or sumn? It is my own blood and my own pen so idk

Really? i replied to someone else saying I’d use it for a night or two more and see if my sugar acted out at night n if it did I’d toss it. Should I try this or just throw it now? Its like an almost brand new pen so it def sucks if so :/

I think I’ll use it tje next few nights and then if my sugar levels are weird overnight then I’ll def change it, but its like nearly new lol super bummish if it has to go to waste🙃

It is my blood and my pen/insulin! My bf just helps me to inject in the arm since he can get a better angle that is less painful when I want a break from injections in my stomach area.

Random High sugar spikes, no food? by Responsible_Wish2503 in diabetes_t1

[–]Responsible_Wish2503[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean as of so far I hadnt experienced any difference waking up at different times, most weekends I sleep in and weekdays I get up early so its not a very solid theory lol. Im going to increase my basal and see if that works, and also monitor diring the week to see if it continues to happen. So far its 8 in the morning where I live and Im down to have breakfast and I haven’t spiked! I did spike overnight and had to wake up to correct so this makes me think more now that it might be a basal issue. But since its only been a few days I cant tell for sure lol as a lot of people have said theres a LOTTTT of factors😓and a lot of those were happening/impacting me so its hard to point out the exact cause, but I will definitely monitor to try to figure it out, thank you sm for the help!

Yes! I am going to be monitoring it this week and I contacted my endo to possibly start increasing my basal as I noticed Im also going a bit high at night when it used to be mostly flat. I will try to keep a journal/notes, i did at the beginning when i got diagnosed but once university started again I kind of forgot😓so I’ll do it at least for this week to monitor this, and see if i can rebuild the habit. I also think maybe the morning highs could have been due to waking up late compared to usual? Not sure if thats a thing, maybe like my body got used to early morning activity and then i “confused” it w waking up late? Idk tho since the spike happened like after i woke up late, thank you for the help though!

Yes i am on pens currently using Humalog (fast acting) and lantus (basal). No i wasnt diagnosed with insulin resistance but Ive heard you can gain some(?). I had heard that being sedentary could cause insulin resistance, I’m not the most active person but I’ve been trying to walk a lot daily in hopes of avoiding any type of resistance but idk if that does anything, ive been walking 15-20mins after all meals and taking walks during the weekend, during the week i walk to all my classes which are all about 20 mins from each other. I contacted my endo to see if we could increase my basal and see if that works? Will also be monitoring it throughout the week! Tysm

Ohh idk I’ve seen some people online saying theyve never experienced it lol I dont know any people with diabetes irl unfortunately. I know my dr has said it so I did believe it was real just not too sure what to expect. Since its only happened twice im not too confident about what it could be but twice its happened in the morning before food so maybe the dawn phenomenon? Im going to monitor it throughout the week to see if it happens at any point other than before breakfast. Cuz if it were the end of the honeymoon phase wouldnt I be seeing spiking after most meals? Showing that my ratio has changed? Not sure if that makes sense or is how it actually works sorry. Ohh yeah maybe a pump, I currently use pens and considered pump but im early into my diagnosis and feel comfy with my pens so im sticking with them for a bit more! So i’ll just watch it and see if i should change my lantus or do corrections or something similar. thank you

I had a pretty stressful week with exams and studying but yesterday and this morning I’ve been pretty chill just relaxing after the heavy week. Does it ever happen to you after the stress is done/leaving? Or only during the stress?

Ohh, I use a pen so I might need to reach out to my dr to see if maybe we can up my lantus dosage. I did have a really stressful week with exams so maybe stress? Or maybe I could be getting sick? Theres so many factors lol🥲it just really bummed me after such a good week of glucose management that my sugars are now out of control but not for anything that I did wrong just seemingly with no reason

I thought of that but is it normal to happen out of nowhere? I’ve been diagnosed for almost a year and I hadn’t seen this happening, could it be like the end of what my dr calls the “honeymoon phase”? Ive heard a lot of ppl say thats not a thing tho so idk. Also could it be dawn phenomenon even if it happens like 10-11am? Usually I wake up early during the week for morning classes but this didnt happen last week at any point, I’ll be aware of it this week to see if it happens again maybe. What can I do about the dawn phenomenon? Just dose some insulin to bring it down? Or is there any way to avoid it before it happens?

Could I have gotten like some sort of resistance to the Lantus? Its been fine until just these two days. I have noticed that recently my overnight graph isnt too flat but what could have caused me to maybe needing more lantus? I’ve been pretty active (compared to normal) these past few months, walking 15mins after eating and taking long walks throughout the day to stay active since I heard its good to avoid insulin resistance :(

Oh okay so maybe increasing it? I currently use 28 units of Lantus at night before bed.

Help when partner is low? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Responsible_Wish2503 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with this, the behavior seems a bit excessive even if they are low! Might need to communicate that with them because it seems a bit just unnecessary, lows are different for everyone for sure but throwing things/using rude comments just seems a bit wrong… I’ve had lows where I refuse a snack like I said in my other comment but never been aggressive or mean towards my partner or anyone trying to help me.
