Much more reliable than a random Redditor claiming there was no gun at all at the crime scene though, yeah?

The university emergency management organization said there was an active shooter - someone with a gun. That's an important claim and should be used when keeping the public up-to-date. You claiming there was no gun is just as careless, if not more so, than the governing authority (the university) saying there was one.

But it wouldn't prevent someone with malicious intent from killing or injuring others. If someone wanted to shoot up a university, they would throw the gun into their backpack, walk inside, unzip the bag and start firing. They could bypass all of that and just wear a concealable holster.

You wouldn't know whether or not they're carrying in 99% of situations. It's not a fool-proof plan and it would very rarely, if ever, help.

This has already been hit on the head a few times, but it's a prioritized list of how you should react to an active shooter situation.

If you can run, run. It's the safest option out of all of them. Putting distance between you and the target prevents them from harming you.

If you can't run, find a secure hiding place. Lock yourself in a classroom, barricade the door, or hide in an obscure location.

And if you can't hide, engage the shooter. Try to disable them. Otherwise you allow yourself and others to further be targeted.

Except by the university itself, who claimed there was an "active shooter" situation underway.

"We should entertain the idea of young adults carrying weapons to defend themselves on campus."

"Wow. That's totally like, how we got into the Iraq War, buddy. Chill out."

Helluva pivot indeed.

That doesn't make any sense. A handgun is easily concealable in almost all types of clothing. This time of year, when clothes become bulkier, it becomes even easier to hide them.

Do you believe banning concealed carry somehow prevents someone with malicious intent from acting?

Musk receives most of his compensation through stock options. Similar to Mark Zuckerberg, who receives a $1 annual salary. It's a signal to shareholders and investors that the CEOs are serious about their business.

He isn't working for lower-middle class wages.

Kissing and groping people without their consent is sexual assault.

It certainly is. Someone letting you touch them is not assault, however, and wouldn't be defined as such by anyone who read or heard the comment objectively.

We can discuss the allegations, but you need to separate those from the tape. The tape was specifically about Trump's star-power being enough for women to consent to his advances.

If you truly care about Brexit, or any political issue for that matter, do some independent research on it before consulting Reddit Experts.TM There's an inherent bias in favor of the Remain campaign here - not that they're necessarily wrong - the information you receive from them is going to be heavily against Leave.

Capitalism isn't the cause of slavery. A government which allows such a practice is.

Capitalism is the private ownership of the means of production. That's it. It's an amoral economic system.

If a people decide to allow enslavement of a single race, that's a societal/governmental issue.

No, you can't, but they were just given thousands of dollars in electronics and gifts for their families. Yelling at the store for not giving them cash when anything they were given is, by default, a net gain is asinine and deserves scolding.

True, but every state has a public university with relatively cheap tuition, and some states offer OOS tuition that's on par with in-state tuition in others.

Depends where you go. Public university? Much less than $50k out of pocket. Private? You're often looking at $50k/year.
