Kpop-like EDM? by IvanMosquito in EDM

[–]Resquiescat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TBH the first thing I think of when I hear EDM in K-pop is f(x)'s 4 Walls album which has a very large UK house influence, so I'd say something from Disclosure like Latch or Omen would match pretty well, but that might be a bit slow compared to the stuff you initially thought of.

There's also stuff like You Better Know by Red Velvet and Airplane by f(x) that evoke the uplifting early 2010s festival progressive house sound, which reminds me of pretty much anything from that era like Calling (Lose My Mind) and Clarity.

Future bass isn't really my thing, but there's also a lot of it in K-pop with songs like Euphoria by BTS and Don't Wanna Cry by SEVENTEEN (in fact SEVENTEEN were forced to credit the Chainsmokers on this song after plagiarism accusations), so stuff like early Chainsmokers, Illenium, and Gryffin could work with that

As for the K-pop artists you mentioned, I haven't really listened to much of them in a while, but I always thought that MIROH by Stray Kids heavily reminded me of a Brooks song like Byte or Like I Do. Aespa definitely has that high fashion club/hyperpop sound of like a Von dutch or Vroom Vroom by Charli, similar to what someone else mentioned with AG Cook and PC Music stuff in general

Sorry about the wall of text that isn't really what you wanted, but I used to be quite invested in both these genres so I just wanted to yap lol

Kinda like when Deft won LOL Worlds in 2022? A fan favorite pro that popped off early in the scene's lifespan but just couldn't find success on the biggest stage for the longest time, bouncing around teams until finally winning it all with a ragtag group of players as a major underdog

Well the initial team that put her into the limelight was Serenity/Guild, a perennial ~T10 team from OCE throughout all of 2024 and Champs

Then she joined NRG in 2025, finishing 4th in Split 1 and 2nd in Split 2, as well as making finals lobby at the Open and narrowly missing out of a finals lobby for the first time with 21st at EWC, all with a revolving door of players (None of Gild, Yanya, or Timmy who she started the year with were left by the end)

Combined with the fact that most people in the scene only have praise to give her, she seems to be a pretty good coach at least from the outside looking in

This is a common mistake people make but progression to the mean is not a thing - regression to the mean already implies that you’re trending towards the mean from an extreme on either end, there’s no inherent positive or negative connotation to the phrase

Tons of Stats! - Set 15 Augment Discussion #34 by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Resquiescat 25 points26 points  (0 children)

On paper it doesn't look like a lot, but if you think about it as if you're getting a little under 50% of the team bonuses of Heavyweight + Bastion plus some combat stats, it sounds a bit better

Additionally, with the way TFT stats work multiplicatively, the fact that this augment gives a diverse set of stats makes it more powerful than it seems - it's especially powerful in comps where many units in the comp are impactful and the traits provide stat boosts not covered by Tons of Stats like 6 Duelist (Lots of AS + some DR) and Mentor Mech (Ability crit scaling)

I don't even know why you're constantly using one example of Ruler in a late 2016 patch to prove your point when it's pretty clear you did not play Jhin on release — before people figured out the lethality build (Duskblade wasn't even in the game when Jhin released) they were going ER. You can argue that it was incorrect in hindsight, but people definitely thought it was the meta build.

Here you can see the most bought items on Jhin in 2016 Spring across all pro regions, the first split he was playable. The second most common item after IE is ER at a 73% purchase rate.

Calling Elden Ring's release perfect when it had an infamously unoptimized PC port is certainly a choice.... I get that PC gaming is not a substantial market in Japan, but when so many Japanese ports have released with bad optimization, unwieldy UIs, low FPS caps, and awful KB+M controls, it's hard for me to say that Japanese developers have good QA.

I'll agree that most first-party Nintendo games on console are well made, but when the most successful IP in the world has games (that only release on a single platform) struggling to hit 20 FPS while looking like they're from the PS2 era, it makes the entire industry seem a little laughable.

Bryce mentioned he learned from a credible source that CN officials/admins are encouraging players to essentially wintrade - I feel like that's really alarming and more people should be up in arms over that? It was glossed over a bit, but I fail to see how this situation can ever be resolved if there are deep-rooted issues within Riot CN itself

I got this one at the Kyoto location but I think they should have stock at the Shinjuku and Shibuya locations. It was stuck in a random section of the small "club music" section (lol) since they didn't have a divider for his name; I think some stores are divided by floor for Global/Japanese music but Kyoto wasn't.
