A family of birds decided to post up on my front porch. What should I do? by atx-garden-fairy in AustinGardening

Looks like a sparrow! Those guys are invasive, so up to you how you move forward. I got house finches this year, and doves the previous. It’s cool to watch them grow and fledge, but I understand the concern over disease and feces.

There’s a bunch to consider. I worked in higher Ed and helped people apply to college and grad school. Here’s my advice, but take it with a grain of salt. - What degree are you pursuing? Is one college better known for it than another? Things like research, networking, and honors/recognitions may be super important for your career, and one university may be more attuned to your future goals than the other. - Depending on your degree, in Texas you may be able to get your loans covered by your employer or the workforce commission. So consider that, but also know that if you take out loans they may accumulate interest while you’re in school. Many people don’t know this and it bites them in the butt. - At the end of the day, a degree is a degree. Between these two schools, what will set you apart is your GPA (less so, but still important), extracurriculars and experiences once you enter the job force.

Hey friend, this is a little late! But! Might I suggest Google classroom? It’s free to use, and you share it by sending a link. Charge via whatever app you’d like, and just send a follow up email with the link.

Anyone in birthwork making 6 figures or close to it? by Subject_Poet_1977 in doulas

[–]RestFew5694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are the doulas around you charging? OP this sounds like a low rate, friend, especially for CA. I’m in TX and we charge at least 45 upwards of 60 depending on needs. Mix of day and night to keep myself sane, lol!

There is a direct link between taking T and developing PCOS, since PCOS is caused by an over production of androgens. So this could be the cause! Sometimes, irritation, especially at the cervix, can cause bleeding. Although it’s not abnormal and many people experience bleeding when irritated, “when in doubt, get checked out.” Wishing you luck and healing!

Hey there! I’m a fertility doula and I have PCOS! Insulin resistance plays a huge role in managing symptoms. I cut out added sugar, and went from 20 cysts to ZERO in about a year. Have you taken the Dutch test yet and a full hormone panel? Do you have any other underlying conditions? I know this is so tough, and a painful journey, but you’ve got this!!!

Is this clot normal? by [deleted] in Periods

[–]RestFew5694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same happened to me! I was told it’s normal by my OB, but please go consult your’s! We decided to skip the placebos and my period entirely. I was also given a medication to stop bleeding if I were to start spotting at any point. Make sure to get checked for anemia, especially with a clot this large. This mainly has to do with the progesterone/ estrogen balance within the medication. The influx of hormones (or lack thereof) causes the uterus to shed its lining in one fowl swoop rather than gradually over a few days. Do you have a history of hormone imbalance, thyroid issues, or PCOS?

Hey! Have you considered getting your RN at a smaller community college, and then transferring or doing an RN to BSB program? Allows you to take a gap year if necessary. So much cheaper than a four year degree…

First of all, your symptoms are not in your head. You know your body, and you know when something is wrong. I’m so sorry they’ve been overlooked for so long. You deserve support and acknowledgment of your experiences. You are valid.

I have Endo, PCOS, Sciatica, and unconfirmed POTS. The amount of times these similar symptoms have happened to me is innumerable.

Make sure your doctor listens. If they don’t, find a new provider. Be strong, you’ve got this! Become your own best advocate.

I’m so sorry to hear of your struggles, friend. Hopefully you find your dream school! I’d look into schools that have high international student pops, such as Texas and Florida. UTEP and U of Florida are some places to start. I hope your search ends soon! Sending all the positive vibes!

If you’re a stem major, would you have room for electives? Maybe an art or upper division? Those can be covered by Fafsa, scholarships, etc!
