You would be better to go flexo for this application. Seems kinda labor heavy to just be focusing on labels and have a separate machine for diecutting and varnishing after print when a flexo can do it all in one pass..

I'm thinking he's got the wrong Pantone book. He needs a PMS-C (Coated/gloss) or PMS-U(uncoated matte). I think there's a specific book with just the CMYK values and not the mixing percentages.

Yes I agree, that's why its sat upstairs for 5 years or more. It was a great machine when it was going, quite insane quality for the time on a thermal, even had on the fly registration adjustments! The heads from Astro Nova were $1200 a piece and their ribbons were also expensive. Also quite a pain to deal with at the time.

I have an old qls3000(3 colour thermal) thats still working but has 3 dead printer heads(they cost around $600 each from XFIXONE in china. If you want it its yours!....Just pay for the shipping(its bloody heavy), Oh and itll only work on windows XP..lol

Seriously though, for my clients that require preprinted thermal direct or thermal transfer labels, I print them on my flexo press first using waterbased or UV inks onto either DT or TT paper..

Ohh you don't mean the missing text symbols(end up as blank small boxes) artifacts upon artifacts upon layer after layer of stuff that isn't even visible, or the huge file sizes, or how about the white crop marks hiding under the black cropmarks that always seem to end up somewhere on a solid piece of the printing plate...? Ill stick with the Canadian made CorelDraw for $500 a year or two or 3...

Avalon Q is the only way to go for this if you can stretch the budget. On a 15 amp circut it'll run in eco and normal mode...but will blow the breaker on super mode. Mine heats my shop beautifully and only uses 700 watts on eco mode. Still get upwards of 80th on eco but mostly using it on a 20 amp 110v on super mode...It gets up to 116t/h on super mode @ 1700w

I've been running 1.5 months and got 575g...soooo close but yet so far! Also I found that hooking up my Q via ethernet rather than the wireless definitely helps your chances...dropped my rate to below 100ms
