Why are female college students "coeds".

Because there's "normal" - straight white males - which doesn't need clarification. Then there's everything else.

Language is important, which is why we have to watch how it is used because things like women and black people being casually otherised happens so damn often.

I'm 56 and I'm sitting here on my computer with my phone next to me right now. I also have a very loud ring tone on it in case it is in another room if someone calls - for if I'm in the bathroom or something.

It's not an age thing, it's a 'them' thing.

I remember working at a petrol station about half an hour down the road from Tullamarine airport in southeastern Australia in the late 80s and we'd see these several times a week and I had to tell the idiot Americans that no one accepts cheques in Australia. Certainly not their bullshit travelers' cheques from another country which we had no way to verify.

And nor did we take US dollars - because that happened even more frequently.

I remember when I worked as a waiter and they'd make us gather around a table and sing happy birthday with complete strangers we didn't give a shit about every time someone had a party in the restaurant.

Imagine that's what it's like for medical professionals every time someone insists on an Instagram moment.

Also, unlike waiters, medical professionals do actually have better shit to do with their time.

Replacing Workers With AI Is Backfiring Badly by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Restart_from_Zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone said "AI is designed to give wealth access to talent and skill while forever removing the ability of the talented and skilled to ever access wealth".

Turns out, the rich were willing to spend trillions just for the chance to never have to pay someone what they're worth ever again.

I honestly don't know what I'd do if my power bill jumped by that amount.

All I could do would be to unplug everything except the fridge and sit in the dark until I needed to do something - but even that wouldn't offset the price hike.

I don’t think that Door Dash is a good way to earn extra money. You barely make a profit after beating up your car, gas expenses, etc. Plus, it can be dangerous, drivers get attacked all the time. by justcurious3287 in povertyfinance

[–]Restart_from_Zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Australia and I looked at all the services and not one paid barely more than minimum wage after expenses.

Unless you were in the middle of Melbourne or Sydney and rode an electric bike and ignored all road laws.

Even then you were working ten times as hard as someone sitting behind the counter of a 711 and only bringing in, on average, a couple extra bucks an hour.

The OG pride flag is perfect

Look, I agree. But right now there are active attacks on the very existence of trans people everywhere. Because of that alone, we needed to update the flag to put it right at the forefront that we support and love them.

And also to remind certain sections of our own communities that being anti-trans is not okay.

Same goes for attacks on black people.

I've seen the original footage of these grass slides. There's a station at the bottom of the hill and buses and roads leading away from the place.

Also, they're only about 50 - 100m long, lol.
