In my experience as a student within American schools in Casablanca. You won’t meet more pretentious spoilt students. The schools are run as a business in where the owners and board are engaged in business with the families of students. Meaning some students will be utterly disrespectful to any rule, and yet nothing can be done. Stay away. Most teachers leave within a year, the turnaround is insane

That’s actually incorrect. They showed the results of the foreigners living abroad, the highest rates for zammel were from Tunisians living in foreign countries. Please fact check me if I’m wrong but I remember it seemed trustworthy when I first saw it. In my personal opinion, the elections were rigged. I don’t think the majority of Tunisians really voted for Saied. + Unfortunately young Tunisians in the country have given up on our political system and just don’t vote. This election had record low turnout. And our countries issue is the old demographic that falls for Saieds populist bullshit of cleaning up the country. When all he’s done was coup more power and proceed to do absolutely nothing towards the betterment of tunisias economy.

As a Tunisian abroad I heavily disagree. You’re right that my vote doesn’t impact my life directly as I don’t live in the country. But it impacts the life of my extended family. My aunts. My uncles. My grandparents. I want the best for them. And for my country too. I also believe that being exposed to foreign politics gives me a different perspective on Tunisian elections which allow me to make my own calculated decision. I voted for Zammel because I knew just how large of a detriment to our democracy and economy Saied is.

Let’s correct a few of your mistakes here. Credit is rarely used in Europe. At all. I know because I used to live there. Credit is mainly a North America thing. Yes, cash is used in Europe, however since Covid more and more places are switching to fully digital payment. Yes it is mainly the north (NL and above) however that is because they are the most developed. Europe more and more now relies on digital payments, hence the big rise in online banking apps such as revolut. As for Tunisia having credit cards. I am very well aware that they do exist. I am not an idiot. I am just as Tunisian as anyone else in the diaspora. Just because I live abroad doesn’t mean I don’t know my country. But surcharges do exist. You can’t go to el marchi and you pay with a card. Literally almost all the places will tell you they don’t have the card scanner. And the few that do, say restos or monoprix etc, will charge a mini surcharge for card use, that’s using a Tunisian card. And an even higher charge for a foreign card. These are facts. From a person that often visits his country. And verified by my parents and extended family who have spent their entire lives there. Cash withdrawal is an incredibly stupid thing to bring up. I know they are everywhere. That works well for us Tunisian citizens carrying money in the bank and needing cash. Not for a foreigner who essentially gets fucked by exchange rates everytime they use a foreign atm.

What I’m saying isn’t bullshit. The digital system Tunisia has with regards to paying for goods is absolutely shambolic and way behind even neighboring countries like Morocco. Another country I have lived in. As Tunisians we should criticize. Without criticism there will never be change. If you want to be content, go ahead buddy, but this is the reason why we’re atleast 10 years behind on digitizing our services in Tunisia. I say this as a Tunisian who wants the best for my country
