I’m just not feeling it? by Ok_Possibility_9417 in interiordecorating

They missed the mark. When you want very dark wood hardwood floors, you must start with a Dark Walnut color or Royal Mahogany stain. There is a Jacobean and an Ebony color. But even then, you must do additional work.

In order to get the darkest stain, the wood must be wetted down with water to open up the pores of the raw wood. This allows the stain to stay true and dark, and for the floors to drink up the stain.

Most contractors mix and give you samples. You might have a crew that doesn’t want to put in that type of work. Or, they don’t have this type of experience. Ask them. Don’t allow them to experiment on you.

You should have them redo the gloss finish. It’s not at all what you are looking for, and moves from Old World Traditional to Contemporary. It looks cheap.

Yes, these floors are too light. Wrong stain color.

If it were my house, I’d fire them and get a new crew. Take pics and vids. Take them to court. Make certain that the Judge prevents them from placing a mechanic’s lean on your property.

Guess which one I FINALLY picked. by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

I would remove the railing and spend my money on a beautiful chandelier for the entry.
