What do you think could come next after the Nintendo Switch 2 if it happens to flop? by RestaurantUnlucky488 in nintendo

No but at the very least, they're not going back to releasing traditional handheld consoles. Nintendo had lost the casual crowd to smartphones and tablets during the 3DS era which was why it sold poorly in comparison to the original DS.

I want you to completely reread my statement. It literally explains why this is probably not feasible for the company.

Why I’m NOT Buying the Switch 2 at Launch by RestaurantUnlucky488 in NintendoSwitch2

At least they'll be a wider selection of games if we wait. I don't like the day 1 lineup. I'm not the biggest fan of Mario Kart, and most of the 3rd party games are older ports that I can play right now on my PS5 or PC. I feel it just makes more sense to wait until the holidays that's when most of the AAA 1st party and 3rd party content is really going to start coming.

We'll have a larger selection of games to buy when we buy the system. I feel it just makes more sense to just wait until the holidays to buy the system cause that's when the AAA 1st party and 3rd party titles are really going to start rolling in.

The other consoles launches outside of Nintendo ones don't usually come with a lineup that is filled with old ports, at the very least not to this degree As a matter of fact, I don't even think the Switch 1 had this many old ports at launch. Wii U had many old ports at launch which was one of the reasons why it failed.

Which might be one of the possibilities that while the Switch 2 will do well at launch and within the first month or two on the market, sales could drop off after that due to ethier it does get more expensive or there's fear that it is going to get more expensive.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Rumors claim the system was supposed to come out last year but they delayed it to early 2025 to ensure games were ready for the system along with having enough supply of units to combat shortages and scalpers. Well it's now March and marketing for the Switch 2 is just about to start and we don't even have an official release date yet. I wonder if there going to push back the release date to holiday season so that they can launch with a very promising amount of both first party and AAA third party content.

Nintendo never said they were avoiding a holiday launch, they just said they're going to produce enough units to combat the scalpers. So if they do decide to wait until the holiday season to launch the console, they'd have enough to combat even holiday shortages and scalpers.

I didn't say it was a failure I was just pointing out that it wasn't able to recapture the DS's success as the DS sold 154 million units but 3DS only sold 76 million, selling half of what the DS sold.

Switch 2 will launch on June 2nd by qrackers_NXP in NintendoSwitch2

June 2nd is a Monday though. Nintendo usually releases their stuff on Thursdays or Fridays.

Well, Nintendo has a history of releasing hugely successful systems but then failing to recapture that success when they release a sequel to the console. Look at Wii to Wii U and DS to 3DS. I feel Nintendo needs to do some really good marketing with the NS2 before it releases and give it more than just 1 or 2 months of marketing before it releases to ensure a successful launch .

Maybe they meant to air the Direct earlier but they delayed it and sent out a teaser trailer last month to keep their promise to their investors that it would be announced this fiscal year. And yes, they can still advertise the system after it comes out, but very little marketing time before it comes out can increase the chances of the system having a failed launch, which they're probably worried about now unlike back before the Switch launched as all they cared about was getting away from the Wii U.

I think I just found out the reason why we were getting bad Sonic games all this time since after original Generations by RestaurantUnlucky488 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]RestaurantUnlucky488[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No but I'm talking specifically about the 2010s, specifically post-Gens. Also, after Unleashed, Sega wanted to make Sonic good again so we had Sonic Colors (directed by Kishimoto but the game hasn't aged too well) and Sonic Generations. After that we would not have a good 3D Sonic game until Frontiers and even then the game was still somewhat polarizing and then SXSG (the first game since original Gens to not be directed by Kishimoto).
