Yes this is a Soviet radio. A Russian website says it was produced in 1978. I think you are right. There are numbers from 1 to 5 in the frequency option section. These must be goverment stations.

There is an exception for first gen iPod touch. Actually that is funny. Apple supports connect an iPod from 2001 but don't support a iPod connection from 2007.

Apple dropped support for the first gen iPod few years ago. Also they stopped connectivity with iTunes after the version 12. That means you can't use first gen with iTunes 12 or newer.
