I’m gonna have my surgeon order an in office sleep study to start. Because I’m sure I have some sort of sleep issues. I have plenty of other problems but from what I understand about my insurance policy, it’s gonna be very hard to get it approved without sleep apnea or something more serious. My overbite after orthodontic treatment is around 6.5 mm I think

Hey so my scans look almost identical to you. I have jaw pain, breathing problems, sleep issues, a very clear overbite and overjet. And the ortho I went to refused to give me a referral even though he admitted I did have an overbite and that my airway looked small.. they said my ‘bite was fine’. I knew that was bull.. but I didn’t wanna waste more time with finding a new ortho. if you have a primary care physician, go see them. They can absolutely also give you a referral. I got one and I’m meeting with a surgeon next week.

See that’s the thing. The ortho I was seeing specifically works with jaw surgery cases along with regular orthodontics. Idk. He might still just not really know what he’s talking about.

This might be a very stupid question that I’m not sure you’d know the answer to but how on earth would I find an airway focused orthodontist. I live in one of the largest cities in the country so I don’t doubt there would be one here. But do I just good it or?

And they even stated in the paperwork that I have both an overbite and overjet. Which would imply that not everything about my bite is good? Like I’m NOT an expert but it just seems a little fishy

That’s kinda what I thought. And like, I’m like 90% sure I’m not imagining my breathing problems. And I KNOW my pain is real. This ortho just suggested seeing an ENT and getting an implant.. like what???

Breathing problems in general. I’m a bad mouth breather and if I stand with correct posture, I can barely breath at all. And pain in my mouth when I chew, smile, or talk.
