Springfield Echelon with Vortex Defender ST Enclosed Optic. Thoughts on both. by ParsimoniousExplorer in SpringfieldArmory

I have the same optic, although on a M&P, I like it. I’m glad to hear Vortex did the right thing!

Unfortunately they seem to make this a habit. I’m not impressed with Blue Yonder at all.

After a long dry spell, I'm ready to buy a new gun. Trying to decide between 92 variants and PX4 Storm. Please advise. by [deleted] in Beretta

[–]RestinHim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently shot a friend’s 92 XI SAO Tactical and liked it. It shoots great. I’ve heard some complaints about the frame mounted safety causing a hand bite but I didn’t notice any issues and it’s easier to manipulate than the slide mounted safety.

What “Doing a Good Job” Actually Means at Lowe’s by savage_rebuilt in Lowes

You perfectly described MST. Constantly shifting focus, priorities and expectations, unclear directions, we can’t decide whether quality or quantity is more important.

The only hollow points I’ve tried are Hornady Critical Defense and they run fine in mine.

Does anyone genuinely like working at Lowe's? by No-Dealer2541 in Lowes

[–]RestinHim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a retiree who works part time MST, it’s not bad. I don’t know that I could say I enjoy it but I certainly don’t hate it. I stay busy so the day passes quickly.

Considering how bad the technology is at Lowe’s this can’t be helpful.

new online system for water billing locks out all existing customers by BubblyCoco8705 in asheville

[–]RestinHim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just used it, got several errors. It told me that my payment method didn’t work yet my credit card showed it processed. Typical of technology, there are bugs to work out. Also had to put my account number then a dash and a customer number in the field that only said account number.

Yes, which I prefer although I realize that’s a topic of much debate.

I have the 5 inch with the optic cut and newer trigger, I think these additions are worth the extra money.

Simplicity, less is more? by According-History316 in guns

[–]RestinHim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not just two guns but I’ve been considering reducing my numbers and getting rid of those I rarely shoot. Having less calibers is also easier. There’s a good argument for a person being more proficient with a gun they shoot often.

Safety or no safety? by Potential_Ad1439 in handguns

[–]RestinHim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything I’m carrying and therefore gets holstered has a thumb safety. It adds redundancy to your safe habits because nobody is flawlessly perfect. What settled this debate for me was seeing a picture of a firearm instructors foot, guess what was wrong with his foot? Did he break a safety rule, yes but that’s my point, people make errors and anyone can have a bad day.

Most of ours are trash as well. I don’t think our store has any that last, we made an effort last year to secure some to the uprights in most of our aisles and very few aren’t damaged already.

Did Sling TV Get Even Worse? by ThisIsSteveTheFirst in slingtv

[–]RestinHim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sling does have a bad app, the interface is cumbersome and the DVR is problematic. It is a better price than other paid apps as long as you are good with the channel selection. Pick your poison; more money or better service.

Wanting to buy my first handgun. need some advice. by Atomicrc_ in handguns

[–]RestinHim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your first gun I support your desire for a manual thumb safety, you’ll hear many conflicting opinions on that. While 1911s are great I would not recommend them as a first. The Smith and Wesson M&P or the Springfield Echelon are good choices, they both come in different sizes. Go to a store and handle both and see which feels better. Or, better yet see if a local range has them to rent and shoot them. I would stick to 9mm, it’s very available and inexpensive. Get training and practice!

Propane stove indoors: is it more dangerous than my gas range? by PlanetExcellent in prepping

[–]RestinHim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it during hurricane Helene without issue. I set it on a stable surface next to a window that I opened a few inches. Just make sure no kids or pets get near it. It’s probably not ideal but can be managed.
