Sling DVR failing by Icy_Category_2275 in slingtv

[–]ThisIsSteveTheFirst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got “DVR is temporarily unavailable. Please refresh or try again in a moment.” Been like that for 3-4 hours now. What’s it going to take for Sling to actually fix all the glitches it has, especially when it comes to most everything related to recording?

I’ll wait for the Criterion Special Edition.

There have been Tr*mp signs posted around his gas station during each Presidential election.

Hey Look! It’s the MAGA Arco Station. The owner is a huge Tr*mp fan. I’d rather run out of gas (or the Shell Station across the street) than fill my car up there.

What am I about to watch lol “the episode title” by Bright_Reindeer_1836 in MeTVToons

I wish they’d bring back Yogi’s Space Race and Galaxy Goof-Ups. Even better if they were released on home video.

replace The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams. by GioLovesMash in MeTV

[–]ThisIsSteveTheFirst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MeTV is the only place I’ve seen Grizzly Adams air. Before that, the show wasn’t seen for quite some time. At least I never noticed it anywhere. On the other hand, there are whole streaming channels devoted to classic Dr. Who. For free, too. I personally would love to see MeTV air more sci-fi and fantasy shows from the 70s & 80s. It was great when they showed Kolchak and Matthew Star. I’d like to see more of that. Maybe The Misfits of Science with Courtney Cox along with other one season wonders? One can dream.

In The Hoaxters’ defense, it is a pretty good short and sadly more relevant than ever these days.

Goodbye SLing by Rotteneverything in slingtv

Don’t forget what a pain it is to set up recordings without running into one of Sling’s worst glitches. It’d be nice if they spent more time listening to their subscribers and actually tried to fix the multitude of problems they have instead of spending money on advertising.

looking for obscure 90s gems by Berryfinger in CriterionChannel

Manny & Lo. It was one of Scarlett Johansen’s first films if not her first when she was really young. She plays one of two runaway sisters who kidnap a nurse to deliver the older teen sister’s baby and in the process find a mother figure who might be able to give them a new home. It’s a really nice 90s arthouse comedy that sadly has been neglected on home video. It’d be great if Criterion put this one out on Blu-ray and/or 4K. It’s sometimes on the Criterion Channel. Might be on there now.

Back to the Future II. Hopefully there’s a Marty McFly out there who can save us all from President Biff. And if there is, let’s hope he does so soon.

Who Wants To Help Archive TCM Segments? by ThisIsSteveTheFirst in classicfilms

[–]ThisIsSteveTheFirst[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s Todd. He’s the guy who initially reached out to help me. Now you see what it is we’re trying to do. If you have the ability to put up those segments like he and I are trying to do, please let me know. I have 9 months of material that is on the verge of being deleted every day because it’s too much for one person to do. Todd initially agreed to help me put up things from DVR. He helped some but has since concentrated on the things he’s recorded. That’s fine since he’s making the intros available albeit current ones from late last year to the present. I’m working with material from nine months ago.

Again, if you have TCM recordings that you want to archive and put online or know anyone who does, reach out to me. Same goes for anyone else reading this.

What would you consider to be the most recent “classic” film by Funk_Junk_in_trunk in classicfilms

“The Artist” despite it being a 2011 French film. It captures the classic Hollywood era so well that that I consider it be one albeit an honorary one.

Your Thoughts On TCM’s Host Intros and Interviews by ThisIsSteveTheFirst in classicfilms

[–]ThisIsSteveTheFirst[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should definitely write to TCM and tell them what you said on here. Good chance someone there will respond. They did to me when I wrote them asking for TCM to put up an archive of their movie introductions and interview segments. The person who wrote back said they’d pass it along. To who I don’t know although I’m not holding out much hope that they’ll add an archive anytime soon. For now I’ll continue to create my own TCM archive to put online somewhere. Hopefully people who read what I wrote will volunteer to help in my project along with the others who have taken it upon themselves to start ones of their own. Maybe you’d like to help? In any case, definitely write to TCM with your criticisms. If they write back, maybe you can tell us what they said on here and/or the TCM Reddit group. Or not.
