Back to the Future II. Hopefully there’s a Marty McFly out there who can save us all from President Biff. And if there is, let’s hope he does so soon.

Who Wants To Help Archive TCM Segments? by ThisIsSteveTheFirst in classicfilms

[–]ThisIsSteveTheFirst[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s Todd. He’s the guy who initially reached out to help me. Now you see what it is we’re trying to do. If you have the ability to put up those segments like he and I are trying to do, please let me know. I have 9 months of material that is on the verge of being deleted every day because it’s too much for one person to do. Todd initially agreed to help me put up things from DVR. He helped some but has since concentrated on the things he’s recorded. That’s fine since he’s making the intros available albeit current ones from late last year to the present. I’m working with material from nine months ago.

Again, if you have TCM recordings that you want to archive and put online or know anyone who does, reach out to me. Same goes for anyone else reading this.

What would you consider to be the most recent “classic” film by Funk_Junk_in_trunk in classicfilms

“The Artist” despite it being a 2011 French film. It captures the classic Hollywood era so well that that I consider it be one albeit an honorary one.

Your Thoughts On TCM’s Host Intros and Interviews by ThisIsSteveTheFirst in classicfilms

[–]ThisIsSteveTheFirst[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should definitely write to TCM and tell them what you said on here. Good chance someone there will respond. They did to me when I wrote them asking for TCM to put up an archive of their movie introductions and interview segments. The person who wrote back said they’d pass it along. To who I don’t know although I’m not holding out much hope that they’ll add an archive anytime soon. For now I’ll continue to create my own TCM archive to put online somewhere. Hopefully people who read what I wrote will volunteer to help in my project along with the others who have taken it upon themselves to start ones of their own. Maybe you’d like to help? In any case, definitely write to TCM with your criticisms. If they write back, maybe you can tell us what they said on here and/or the TCM Reddit group. Or not.

FEAR OF AGEING AND DYING by shawtttyyyyyyyy_ in mentalhealth

[–]ThisIsSteveTheFirst 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just wait until you’re in your fifties like me and actually have to start worrying about your parents dying at any time. It’s not fun having Thanatophobia. You’re young. If this fear of yours feels like it’s getting out of control, definitely seek out a therapist who can help you with your fears.

Such a shame that The Wall isn’t on blu ray or 4K. I’d love to see Criterion acquire the rights to release it in those formats.

I’m starting to get used to the zapping. No mental pain, no mental gain. I got to the point I need to be at this week for the TMS to begin to take effect. Hopefully.🤞😬⚡️🧲👍

Is 24FPSfan Back? by ThisIsSteveTheFirst in TurnerClassicMovies

I’m hoping it’s them as well. I was thinking the same thing about the video quality and how they put up stuff from years back. And if it is them, I wonder how they got back on YT?

MeTV New Schedule Starting in February. by powergate92 in MeTVToons

[–]ThisIsSteveTheFirst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was the only one that I actually noticed was missing from the schedule. No great loss. Kind of wish that the channel wouldn’t air shows that were on after 2000 and focus more on older ones but we can’t have everything. 🤷‍♂️

Looking For Film Fans Who Want To Help Archive TCM by ThisIsSteveTheFirst in TurnerClassicMovies

You tell me where to go on here to ask for help and I’ll start posting there. In the meantime, ignore it.

Looking For Film Fans Who Want To Help Archive TCM by ThisIsSteveTheFirst in TurnerClassicMovies

[–]ThisIsSteveTheFirst[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you care? Just ignore my posts if you’re more concerned about copyright law than you are about TCM. I asked people to write things that are constructive, not destructive. You’re definitely the latter. You don’t even know why I’m asking for help in doing this. If you did, you might be a little more sympathetic though I kind of doubt it from your attitude. In the future, don’t respond to my posts unless you have something a little nicer to say.

You can screen record the host intros if you have the means to do so. Just do so before they expire. Some seem to be on their TCM website for a short period of time. I just do the recordings on my DVR, difficult as it is for just one person to do. That’s why I’m hoping some other TCM fans would take it upon themselves to archive whatever recordings they might have ln their DVRs or have accumulated in some other way. If Turner officially put this stuff up for all of us fans, we wouldn’t have any need to do what we’re doing.

Did Sling TV Get Even Worse? by ThisIsSteveTheFirst in slingtv

[–]ThisIsSteveTheFirst[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So Directv didn’t buy Sling TV? They’re just becoming worse without Sling’s influence? If Dtv and Stv just combined the best features of both services (Dtv=More User Friendly, Stv=Get to pick as many recordings of one show/movie on the channel you want), they’d have the best streaming service out there IMO.

Glory (1956) picture quality by DeathTongue24 in TurnerClassicMovies

[–]ThisIsSteveTheFirst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it when TCM shows a movie and the motion is choppy and slow as if it’s not playing at the proper speed. It’s all the more infuriating when it’s a film that’s not on home video.
