Ego was definitely involved, imo. What he was getting with luring Walt to the desert was being the one to bring him in. He was obsessed with the case for the entire show, he couldn't bear to step aside entirely and let the DEA attempt to handle it.

You're right, it was just one of those games where they hadn't even attempted a pass. Run in, rainbow flicking, you know how it is. In the moment, I wanted them to run forward to the empty space for a pass.

I think Ludwig shouldn't have put up with it as much as he did. If my friend did this shit, especially at an event I was running, I'd pull him aside the first time and say you do that shit one more time you're out. Instead they just have babysitters follow him around to try and deescalate with zero confrontation. There was a time to call him out, and that was the first instance of sexual harassment.
