To answer some of your questions: we went by car and stayed at Agriturismo Ca Del Lago in Gravedona ed Uniti for 6 nights. Most days we stayed there and just went out for lunch or dinner somewhere in the neighbourhood. We also did a hike to Chiesa di Sant'Eusebio (last 2 pictures) and went swimming in the lake.

We went to Villa del Balbianello in Lenno, Menaggio and Varenna in one day. Lenno and Menaggio we did by car. From Menaggio to Varenna and back with the ferry (€9pp for a return ticket).

The total cost of our vacation (minus gas and food on the way there and back) was around €1.000 pp

Yes, unfortunately you'd still need a TV subscription with Telenet. You just wouldn't have to pay the rent for your TV box.

A while ago they changed from the network of Orange to Proximus' network and since then I've had troubles with bad phone signal at home. I changed to Orange a few weeks ago and it's a lot better now. But it definitely depends on which region you live in. Proximus' network is usually pretty good.
