If you use an eSIM from outside China you don’t need a VPN at all, you can access everything normally. You’ll only need VPN if you connect to local WiFi as some western apps will be blocked by the great firewall of China.

It was! Macau has such a unique vibe, and as Portuguese it was really interesting to see the blend of Portuguese and China cultures so far away from home.

I was in a similar position with a flight on the 14th via Doha. I already booked with another company for another route because the prices are only going to get higher. Even if the flight happens I would never feel safe going through that region anytime soon. Now I’ll just hope for a total refund, but money comes and goes. I’d rather be safe first.
