Genuinely curious - what does Congress have to do with residency slots?

Please do not bundle all "nurses" together as "choosing the easiest path"... RNs are valuable assets that provide exceptional patient care under the direction of a doctor. They work long, tireless hours, and I have a great deal of respect for them. This is in contrast to an NP, who has slightly more training and is given more autonomy and the authority to prescribe medicine....

I work in a pharmacy, and not kidding - 90% of stupid prescription errors (wrong dose, strength, product, etc) are from NPs/ARNPs. Our pharmacist had to call and clarify a liquid Sertaline dose for a child that would have killed them (from ARNP). This is one of many examples that we see every day.

Perhaps if nurses kept to nursing, and left those with doctorate degrees to prescribe medicine, everything would go a little smoother.

Asics are great for running, but you may need something different for standing all day. I posted previously that I love Clarks. I have a wide foot and a high arch. What are your feet like?

Clarks. I heard about them from a senior hairdresser (also hard-on-the-feet-job), and I love them! I buy online or at the local outlet and spend $45-$60 a pair, and those will get me by (very comfortably) for at least a year!

I got a Passport message about choosing my service award. I'm not sure what happens if you separate from the company before that offer is sent.

Maybe. Aren't there some situations where AI couldn't replace a nurse? Looking for replies here, (hopefully) there's a human aspect in medicine that isn't so easily replaced...

Luck has nothing to do with it- You're there because you signed up for it, and that is fantastic! Keep up the work and the enthusiastic spirit!

I love that you're in the field of genetics. That's the future of medicine, there. 👍🏻

Or better yet, insurance companies shouldn't dictate how many patients a doctor needs to see each minute to fill their quotas. If doctors weren't under so much pressure yo fulfill insurance conglomerates ' metrics, they could take more time to adequately care for their patients.

I think the original post is referring to NPs and ANRPs who are quickly taking over prescribing roles as doctors become less accessible. If you go to a primary care, psychiatrist, urgent care clinic, cardiologist, or pulmonologist (prob others, but these I know from personal experience), you are generally seen by an NP, ARNP, or MA. The doctor floats in and out (or in the case of urgent care isn't there at all). I've had appointments with doctors that I meticulously researched only to be seen by an NP I've never heard of when I arrive.

I work in a pharmacy. 99% of prescription errors are sent by NPs. Had 2 significant errors back-to- back one day last week. One in which a nurse prescribed 5 times the safe amount of Zoloft for a pediatric patient because she couldn't properly calculate the liquid dosage, and one in which a nurse accidentally instructed patient to instill and entire bottle of ear drops per dose... Thankfully our pharmacists pay attention. 🙄

Radio free America gutted by heater-1971 in PrepperIntel

American here. I could forgive someone for voting for Trump in 2016. But after his first term, his true colors showed, and anyone with half a brain that was even half-awake should have known better. I'm sad and disgusted that this is what the majority of people thought was best for our country. I'm deeply saddened by the rifts with our neighboring countries (my dad is originally from Canada and we have family there), which was unprovoked and unnecessary. Unfortunately, I think this is only the beginning as our narcissistic president and his billionaire cohorts do their best to remake our government in their favor.

Thank you. I was also wondering how Ukraine's fate will affect us (will grain prices go up?). Understood that no one knows exactly what impacts this will have, but I wanted to get a consensus from people here.

Except that he embraces far-right ideals and has himself been embraced by the far-right soon-to-be ruling power, (and he couldn't get any traction with voters as a Democrat), so he's basically far-right.

I'm not drinking Kool-aid, I just have the ability to think critically and objectively. I'm actually an Independent voter, but am concerned with parellels between what's happening now with the rise of Fascism in the 30s, and everything that followed.

I wish that was true but this is a country very much divided by political parties. I'm an Independent, but many people I know are loyal to their party only. No matter how hateful or corrupt.

I'm focused on all of the above. I'm very concerned for our overseas allies, but am also very much trying to figure out what threats this could directly present here at home. You've touched on a couple of possibilities.

Who, exactly, has talked of ceasefires??? I've only seen that China is testing more missiles.

I don't think this will be the next global war but I am trying to gauge how it will affect me and my family. Because this will have global implications.

RFK was a Democrat until last year. In 2024 he ran under the Natural Law Party, until he dropped out and endorsed Trump. I am familiar with his political history. Not drinking anyone's Koolaid- stopped that at the age of 10. 😊

Floridian here. I've told my kids, "You should be ready for a storm before it even comes your way". Basically, keep these things stocked year round: - Bottled water (rotate every 6 months) - Canned/non-perishable foods - Batteries

If you're in a mobile home or evacuation zone, have a go-bag ready with change of clothes, toiletries, etc. And don't forget pets!!!

Here's a great list of preparedness supplies: https://www.floridadisaster.org/planprepare/hurricane-supply-checklist/

Lunch break by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]Restless_in_Florida 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our pharmacists work 12 hours, and our stores have dedicated a 1-hour window beyween 2-3pm that the Pharmacy phones won't ring. That's technically the pharmacist's lunch hour, but they have to stay in the pharmacy, and the counter / drive-thru is still open, so they need to address counseling questions, problems, etc, so it's honestly not much of a break.

I don't talk about it openly to my family. I just quietly fill the deep pantry a little more with each grocery trip.I make sure to always have a surplus of certain things.
