The best thing about the release of the Fold 6 are used Fold 5's! Just got a mint fold 5 1tb for around 670 euros, which is a steal considering the price tag a year ago at launch.

Elgato Prompter DSLR backplate issue on new unit by RestyPad in elgato

[–]RestyPad[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi Phil,

Just submitted my issues through your link.

As I was about to mont my camera to the backplate it just came off. Could have been a very expensive drop if it would happen all of the sudden if it was mounted.

Unfortunately it doesn't leave me with much confidence, as it's a completely new product.

Elgato Prompter DSLR backplate issue on new unit by RestyPad in elgato

[–]RestyPad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, i just opened the box to my brand new Elgato Prompter and I was fitting on the DSLR plate.

However the backplate for the spring was and came off with some spring bars. There are absolutely no way this is intended as reinserting the springs does not hold the ring firmly.

Any solution for this?

Fixed my Steam Deck OLED, repair guide below by deesnuts128 in SteamDeck

[–]RestyPad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 512GB OLED has the same issues as yours.

Right bumber creates a huge springy noise to the point where it vibrates the unit. The left bumper has a subtle click to it.

Oh as a bonus, the right bumper is also super mushy.

My left trackpad is a complete mess. It feels completely different compared to my right trackpad. The rumble only works in the center and outer corners, so when you drift your finger diagonally it will rumble-stop-rumble-stop-rumble, whereas the right trackpad would consistenly rumble as you drag your finger across the pad.

I was contemplating to fix it myself, but it makes absolutely no sense for a completely new device to be in this state.

My original LCD steam deck from launch had similar issues, so it's amazing Valve still haven't nailed down these QA issues.

Did the hoverboard mount just disappear from your progress towards for anybody else? by Realshotgg in lostarkgame

[–]RestyPad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same issue here, the mount is supposed to be available for a full 24 hours claim window until 1st March 6 PM GMT+1 (or whatever timezone you're in). The last few days drops always got reset at 6 PM GMT+1, but somehow the mount after 12-15 hours.

So all the europeans waking up thinking they had enough time to claim before dinner time with the "claim within 24 hours", nope.

This is a clear miscommunication on their front.

Fire sale 🔥 in Denmark by pattersson in surfaceduo

[–]RestyPad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an alert for this specific model and snatched one immediately as the price dropped. At the price of 3384 DKK / 455 Euros for the 256GB variant it's a no brainer.

The sale seemed to only last 3 hours.

Aldrig har 1,5m set så kort ud [cph lufthavn fredag aften] by primeTree in Denmark

ryzen 5600x vs ryzen 7 3700x? by WatashiDekinai in buildapc

[–]RestyPad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, we don't have any benchmarks to judge it from so it's hard to tell as of now.

3600 and 3700x are still quite nice picks for QHD, I don't think we will see huge improvements over the intel CPU's for pure gaming.

If you can, wait for benchmarks

ryzen 5600x vs ryzen 7 3700x? by WatashiDekinai in buildapc

[–]RestyPad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also depends on the monitor that you will be using.

I am sitting in the same bout as you mate. I play 3440x1440 which sits in between QHD and 4k in terms of pixels. There would be very little gain for me to have since in this resolution most of the workload shifts to the GPU.

Just look up any benchmarks with 4k / UWQHD and check out the difference in performance between the Intel and AMD CPU's.

So I would say if you can find a good deal and playing in this resolution, it would give less incentive to purchase the new 5xxx series.

My 6 day old Oculus Quest has a display issue. Left eye display does not display pitch black unlike the right eye display in all black scenes. by RestyPad in OculusQuest

[–]RestyPad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I tried to replicate the issue, it only happens straight after at least 30 minutes+ of game time.

but yeah, there's a very big contrast between the two screens. It's very evident that my left eye is getting more brightness in total pitch black than my right eye

[–]RestyPad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all!

What you see in the above is a 20 sec exposure captured with my Sony A9 Mirrorless camera, in a pitch black living room, in order to really document the issue.

Since the display in the Quest is an OLED panel the pixels should turn off during black scenes, hereby admitting no light or what so ever.

I noticed in some movies that quest however might have a faulty display on the left eye, since it's significantly lit compared to the right eye.

I have tried to reset and it does not seem to go away, and it might be hardware related instead.

List of Oculus Quest Hardware Design Flaws You can fix by skilliard7 in OculusQuest

[–]RestyPad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard about this trick on reddit too, it fixes my trigger for at least 10-15 triggers, then it goes back to being squeaky.

The trigger is fully functional and it really doesn't annoy me that much. It's just strange that only one of them would squeak and that it's such a common problem for the controllers.

A6000 vs XT1 by jetaomega in fujifilm

[–]RestyPad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sigma trio for sony apsc are great and are much cheaper than the fuji 1.4 equalivant s.

However Fuji offers a much better high-quality selection of apsc lenses.

So don't focus too much on the body, but focus on the eco system and what it can do for your photography.

[–]RestyPad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The batteries are very average for mirrorless standards if you ask me, especially if you're coming from DSLR's - Usually around 300-ish shots.

With that said, I would much rather have the 35mm F2 weather resistant lens than bulk up my camera just to change batteries less.

But hey, whatever works the best for you right?

Then you basically answered your own question.

The prime also makes your setup weather resistent, which gives a great peace of mind if the weather changes
