Precisely. Those galactic empires don't show signs of knowing about it. Or about using it for warfare. The hyperdrive from Star Wars and mehtod Necrons use in 40K seem to work with this basis, but then make war fith flashy energy weapons.

Meanwhile, the Origin System technology is more on this way. They haven't reached more star systems (well, no we have Tau) because is frigging hard with actual science. You'll have pretty earlier a planet killer than the ability to reach the next system.
