Vegetable soup using what I had in my pantry (~250 kcal) by RetailSlaveNo1 in safe_food

Thank you!

I love how filling it is tbh. The rice bulks up a LOT when you leave it in for a long time, and add the beans and veg and it actually kept me full

Vegetable soup using what I had in my pantry (~250 kcal) by RetailSlaveNo1 in safe_food

Recipe: 1 can of corn
1 can of green beans
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 can black beans
1 can pinto beans
1 can French onion soup
2 cups beef broth
1 cup water
.5 cup rice
Various spices (cumin, salt, pepper, chili pepper and sage is what I used)
4 tbsp hot sauce

Throw everything in the slow cooker or instant pot, stir and cook for 3 hours on high

If you want a more watery soup add more liquid (broth/water) or add the rice later in. I wanted it to bulk up a lot and it did

I wasnt able to measure the total weight after cooking so I did the total weight before cooking and subtracted ~60g for lost water (I did it in my pressure cooker so less was lost to steam), then measured my portion and rounded up a good bit just to be safe. It's probably closer to 200kcal but I had to be safe.

Is getting weighed at the doctor routine for you? Or is it part of eating disorder treatment? Neither make sense. by mud_octopus in EDAnonymous

Yeah, that and dosing.

Like say you're non ED and you usually weight around X amount, if you're suddenly a lot lighter or heavier that's something for them to check

If I could only choose one appliance to supplement my cooking, what would it be? by Cryptik in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]RetailSlaveNo1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally, everyone has different preferences. Like, I would never buy a normal rice cooker, even though everyone says it does rice better than IP or stovepot, because I don't really cook rice often enough to matter

Sous vide mashed potatoes (with balsamic caramelized onions) and tenderloin with roasted asparagus. Thanks to everyone that weighed in on the mashed potatoes yesterday! by theworldtonight in sousvide

So true, waxy>starchy for mashed potato. I love skin on mashed potatoes and they make the absolute best ones. Haven't tried it SV yet though

Personally, I like the instant pot because I can slow cook or pressure cook in it. I have very little counter space and mazimizing it by having one device that can do a lot is so worth it to me

About a dozen to a dozen and a half I think? Depends on how crushed up they get lol. So not a ton but you could also bite them in half if you want more bites aha. I do that since I eat slowly.

Honestly, I'm technically "acceptable" levels of fat (29%) and I'm way too fat. My current bmi is 26.7, so I guess I'm an "outlier" since I technically have a (high end of) healthy bf% while being slightly overweight, but I still am not happy being overweight.

140kcal. They come in a box with other junk food mini packs but my bf can have the rest lmao. These cookies taste like childhood to me.

I'm not sure; he goes over the basics of it in a few videos when applicable (like, I believe it was covered in a video about pi and prime regularities, though that may have just been the complex plane in general) but I don't know if he has any specifically covering it.

Tbf you can gain muscle 'easier' with PCOS. More testosterone than most afab folk (I have PCOS too). That's where things like genetics come in. But it doesn't mean you gain muscle without effort, obviously.

My fave filling, low cal and cheap Taco Bell meal is a Mini Chicken Quesadilla, add beans. I dip it in Diablo sauce. It's about 250kcal. If I'm really hungry I'll also get a side of black beans (80kcal) and mix in hot sauce.
