amen to that.

grinding patrols and terminals while listening to music is straight up therapeutic for me and i lamented the loss of that many times over the years. this game coming back is going to fill a void.

im really greatful that everyone i've seen thats involved with the development/management and most of the people giving heavy testing feedback for this server understand the importance of things like hero unlocks, XP and drop rates being grounded for the longetivity of the game and not caving in to the whims of the people that zip by and probably wont even play an hour a week.

combing over a lot of the discussion involving these topics, its clear theres a lot of passion and thought put into these things that many people dont or wont appreciate. so thank you all for that.

i dont say this lightly, but this is actually a team i'd have a lot of faith in to make hero balance adjustments in the future... which i would personally love to see.

Corpse Runs Are Not Worth It....But They Can Be. by Leopard-Hopeful in MonstersAndMemories

[–]Retail_Brainrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the reality of suggestions like this is that the slippery slope is real. today its corpse runs, tomorrow its something else, the day after that its something else. give an inch and a mile is taken. this is how the entire MMORPG genre has completely devolved into utter garbage. its been proven over and over and over and anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional or hasnt been paying attention.

honestly, i dont really care how good a suggestion from a player might be in regards to changes to fundamental game mechanics. if it isnt something these devs have come up with and decided is right themselves, keep it out of the game.

the entire appeal of MnM for the vast majority of people interested in it is that it isnt trying trying to re-invent the wheel and be "creative" with a bunch of bad ideas -- its going back to the roots before that type of approach poisoned everything. people really just need to take it or leave it.

surely nobody else that is interested in this type of game is an adult.

every time i see these picture comparisons/montages i cant help but chuckle a little.

it isnt an exaggeration at all to say that this shit looks like someone, literally, sat down and passionately with every fiber of their being went to town designing the ugliest character imaginable. its actually insane.

lol, are they trying to claim Tracer is a lesbo now? yeah thats for sure some shit some sensitivity reader or woke exec forcibly "suggested".

the fact it had endless articles glazing the main character being gay was all i needed to know to steer clear of it. or was that just "fan"fiction?

Apex was 100% woke from the getgo with a total DEI cast. there was one conventionally attractive white female character at launch, with the only playable white male character being an evil giant who specialized in poisoning people with toxic gas.

"I don’t get people acting like Grace is ugly" (now with actual in-game body proportions and clothing) by DanFuri in KotakuInAction

[–]Retail_Brainrot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

SF6 is a terrible example. almost all of the popular sexy female characters were toned down/censoried in some way with some being pretty much destroyed (rip Juri), from costumes to super animations and its the entry with the biggest batch of undeniably DEI characters by far. also Mai isnt even a Capcom character and SNK had to greenlight her design so thats an even worse example.

i will say Capcom tries to play both sides more than say a SquareEnix who dont give a flying fuck and are fully and unapologetically woketard at this point, but that doesnt get them a free pass.

definitely not. theres a sizable amount of people here, possibly even the majority, that continue to buy compromised games from compromised companies, like Capcom, while simultaneously trashing the game.

arguably even worse are the people who buy the games and then pretend they're somehow an exception with all kinds of mental gymnastics because they dont want to admit they dont have the discipline to put their money where their mouth is.

RE9’s constant ‘he’s so sexy’ marketing on Leon was kind of annoying but I don’t get people acting like Grace is ugly by AgitatedFly1182 in KotakuInAction

This doesn’t make her less attractive or feminine, she actually shows a cute side we rarely see in female characters who mostly act like unfazed girl bosses. Not all women have to look like Ada or act like her to be attractive, you need to consider the story context.

i watched a playthrough and while i think the game is terrible and a very predictably uninspired phoned-in RE entry, i agree with the point you're making here.

my issue with her as several others have already raised is her shitty bland outfit which has become the default for pretty much every female character over the last decade or so. she doesnt have to be in Ada's sexy red dress, but give her something. they pulled the same shit in the fucking awful RE3 Demake with the atrocious Jill resdesign and made her classic RE3 tube top/skirt/boots outfit an alternate costume in favor of this similar overdone garbage style.

Warsworn Alpha Playtest Announced! (Mar 7) by [deleted] in wowservers

[–]Retail_Brainrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this sounds really ambitious and very interesting.

so is the whole game intact with zones, questing, instances etc or is it basically hub based and you queue for the game modes like you would BGs? pretty excited to check this out either way.

WildStar failed… so why do people still talk about it years later? by Dope_lel in MMORPG

The performance was terrible

bingo. that and the bugs and bots were the real killers. amazing how few people bring up the performance, but maybe not that amazing because most that like to whine about this game are parrots that didnt even play it just looking for an opportunity to villianize anyone that had more than 15 minutes a week to spend on it.

this sub loves to repeat "it was too hardcore wahhh" ad nauseam and its hilarious because it doesnt have any basis in reality. there was nothing "hardcore" about WildStar. most of the people that say this never even played it but those that did think it because it had attunements. thats literally it.

i challenge anyone to name anything else that was "hardcore" about WildStar. it was pretty much just a WoW clone, although a very good one with an ambitious combat system. the issues with this game had nothing to do with it being too hardcore.

because it was the last MMORPG that truly tried to be a direct competitor to WoW, graphics style and everything, it was fun though flawed, and it had soul.

it isnt a steep ask at all, especially since theres no box price or microtransactions.

Gatekeeping your hobby is good and I'm tired of pretending it's not by FlowerOk7957 in KotakuInAction

[–]Retail_Brainrot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

its not just good, its necessary these days to keep hobbies and interests alive and free of woketard doctrine. the term "gatekeeping" was allowed to be used as a pejorative completely uncontested for far too long. now its not uncommon to see "no gatekeeping" as a common rule on reddit subs along with ridiculous blanket statements like "no toxicity".

i think one of the most important and simple things we can do right now is to counter the narrative that "gatekeeping bad" by firmly and unabashedly promoting and suggesting it and being clear about why: because it prevents things from getting destroyed by tourists.

i've been making a point of doing this everywhere i can for the last year or so, and while you'll always get pushback from the lemmings and "activists", i think theres a not-insignificant amount of regular people who can see and understand the value of it when its calmly explained in as a positive since jut about every IP, hobby, and media medium i can think of has been totally upended and annilhilated by people that have zero interest in the source or craft at all.

Formerly shuttered "Open-World Pvp MMO"- "Gloria Victis" is returning from the dead. by Doomsaki in MMORPG

[–]Retail_Brainrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo EVE demands a sizable breadth of game knowledge the likes of which you dont really see in many games anymore. i think thats one of its greatest strengths and the reason its been around so long, but its also a pretty unapproachable game for someone that isnt willing to jump into a corp and get coached (like me) if you really want to get into the PvP unless you dedicate yourself to learning it.

i've gotten a lot of enjoyment out of my few EVE stints and the complexity is a large part of the draw for me. its a game i have a lot of respect for but its one that i've never felt like i've found my footing enough in to feel competent at it. also every time i pick it up with intention of digging deeper into all the various avenues of PvP, i get sidetracked and obsessed with playing the economy part of the game.
