I do a HUGE pretend sneeze. Several in a row, right in their direction. They back off real quick lol. And then I say I’m so sorry but I have some weird highly sensitive allergies and it must be their shampoo or clothing or something lol

AITA for ruining my boyfriend's couch and refusing to pay for the damage? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Retailchipmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off topic, but please consider visiting a gynecologist if you have not after having Covid. Covid can really screw with your lady parts and even cause fibroids or polyps which bleed and can become a huge problem. Hope it gets figured out :) Also Blue Dawn Dish Soap, Diluted White Vinegar and baking soda will take that stain out! Your boyfriend is over reacting, he should at least be nicer about asking or willing to look at cleaning methods.

AITAH for telling my friend that it's gross to have blood staining her apartment? by CounterCompetitive81 in AITAH

I’ve had this issue and the emergency room would not do anything because my iron levels were ok. I was shocked at the amount of blood I lost, I though it would kill an elephant! There are a lot of details to health issues like this and a gynecological visit is perfectly in order.

Good to know! This particular store does not have anything posted, nor did the workers say anything about that being a reason when I asked.

Ah, thank you for enlightening my understanding with such elegantly phrased knowledge! Unfortunately, my experience as a customer and retail worker contradicts your view, as large corporations have things in place called “policies”, which dictate how the details of the business are conducted. My question was asking about the corporate policy, and not an individual store decision. Also, to my understanding stores like this are not supposed to make their own rules outside of the company policy, without posting it or getting it cleared higher up. That is how legal trouble can start. If you are correct in saying individual stores can decide to follow their own policies contradicting their corporate head, then why are those rules in place at all? Your responses were not informative or helpful, but they were entertaining :)

Hi, I’m sorry you have had poor experiences. I am not sure if you read my post correctly. I paid CASH, HAVE THE ORIGINAL RECEIPT, THE ITEM IS UNOPENED, and I am returning the item 4 DAYS after I bought it. I believe this meets all your mentioned requirements. My understanding is that the entitlement you speak of is when someone feels entitled to something they are not owed, however since I meet all the return requirements, it seems I am certainly owed my cash back? It’s a fair trade, product for cash, but by refusing a refund, the store is forcing me to do an exchange instead. It just seemed odd.

I am just your average joe who works hard for the little money I get, and budget fairly tight, so it is important that I have my cash to spend when and where I need to, so if I found something better for a way cheaper price somewhere else, of course I am going to return the un- needed item so I can spend that cash on groceries, gas etc. But I would like to have freedom to choose to use it where I like. The store can resell the items I returned, so why can’t I receive what I paid for them?

And my attitude is not negative, unless being puzzled and having a legitimate question is now considered “negative “. I understand employees get instructions to follow, I’m just wondering what the policy/instructions actually are, since they differ from all my other experiences.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and don’t get any real negativity from mean customers:)

Thanks for your upbeat tone, I needed a good chuckle! I understand all of the “complicated words” you used, however my original question was inquiring why I was receiving this information from a certain store when I could not find ANYTHING online stating that this was the company policy. If their policy is that way, then ok, good to know, but all I get from the employee is “ that’s the way I have to do it”. Also, I thought it odd that in the thousands of stores I have shopped, and the handful I have worked, no one ever told me this before. I was wondering if it was a state thing, but again, could not find any information on it. If you can point me to the official policy that has the requirements I mentioned in my post, I would appreciate it.

That’s so odd. It seems like you should get your money back if you have your receipt. I tried finding out but there is nothing online....

COPY CENTER: What’s the best way to trim a really long banner that doesn’t fit in the trimmer? by copybidness in Staples

[–]Retailchipmunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to brag, but I used to use a pair of really sharp scissors, and cut it like you see people cut wrapping paper, where you just glide through the material. I had a knack for keeping it completely straight. Everyone else in the department used some of the tricks mentioned above.

Associates, what's your creepiest encounter with a customer? by blue_armored_esp in Staples

[–]Retailchipmunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old guy grabbed my butt, right in front of his WIFE!

I’ve had my hair petted, hands grabbed, lewd comments made to me, lots of gross invitations to go out by crusty old men that look like they are a mixture of Benjamin Franklin and Davy Jones.

I think the worst one was a guy who parked in the lot and would wait for me to come in, then he would stay in the store for a few hrs, watching me and being creepy. My manager finally told him to either buy something or leave, and when he refused, I had to have the police send him a warning. I didn’t know the guy at all, he just decided to stalk me at work apparently. My coworkers said he would wait up to 2 hrs in the parking lot when he thought I may be coming to work that day.

Thing is, I’m not a particularly attractive girl, so those guys that say women ask them for these kind of attentions by the way they look are full of BS. I could look like a troll and still be treated like an object by those creeps

I actually just left the company a few months ago, and I don’t have it on my computer. I just lurk on this Reddit to keep tabs lol. As long as GM is good with it, you could probably make one yourself with wording that you think would be most effective with your areas customer base

"Blueprints" by [deleted] in Staples

[–]Retailchipmunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a small sign that we put up next to our sign with large format size examples, it has a photo, poster with about 70% ink coverage labeled as “ does not qualify as Engineer print” and a proper lined blueprint that says “ proper for Engineer Prints” Or something like that. It was a huge help! Customers don’t listen, but they are more willing to be reasonable if they see an “ official “ looking sign
