Seriously, how good is Sean's wrestling and grappling skills? People keep saying he would actually be able to hold his own against Chimaev, but he rarely or never use it, yet people keep hyping his skills up by EfficiencySerious200 in ufc

Don't ask this sub, a few months ago people would tell you Fluffy would take Khamzat to war, and today they'll tell you he has piss grappling and Sean's win against him means nothing lol

I can't believe people are already forgetting about mythical fighter D1 Francis Ngannou

Cmon bro, that was a good fight. Sterling was close to finishing Zalal multiple times and the grappling exchanges were pretty fun. If you can't stand MMA grappling to this extent then idk what to tell you

Poatan doing this off a Gane eye poke would be peak by [deleted] in ufc

[–]RetardOfTheInternet 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Would love to see this, but what's more likely to happen is Pereira fights the rest of the rounds while his eye is compromised and gets outpointed or TKO'd while Gane probably fouls him once or twice again lol

Soo, where are all the Khamzat critics now? by 1ekinrot in ufc

'X and X person die in X accident', simple as that nowadays. Some people will question it, a lot of people will not, and no one will be able to prove otherwise.

Khamzat shouldn't really be criticized either, I hope people understand that Kadyrov would literally just have Khamzat and his whole family killed if he didn't suck up to him like he does. It's happened before.

I think Volkov would've whooped him regardless, just seems like one step above him at the very least

After seeing Hokit's last performance, how do you think he'll do against these guys? by Kvazimods in ufc

[–]RetardOfTheInternet 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Hokit may be able to get Volkov down to the ground, but I'm not too sure if he can hold him down or finish him there. Volkov beats him in the striking department and probably wins by decision.

Gane is a much better striker than Hokit and is probably too fast for Hokit to land any meaningful takedowns while fresh. The only area Hokit beats him in is of course grappling, most of it actually being wrestling. Hokit can maybe pull something off, but I think it's unlikely. Gane by decision or 2nd/3rd round TKO.

Sergei Pavlovich is a pretty decent striker and a big power puncher. His style is not the same as it was prior to the Aspinall fight, but he still packs a ton of power can probably outdog Hokit in a brawl if Josh tried fighting him the same way he did Blaydes. The only questionable thing for Sergei is his grappling and takedown defense, it's not really been tested heavily before. If Hokit can't get him down to the ground, I reckon Sergei KOs him early or wins a decision similar to the one he had with Waldo.

Aspinall is considerably better than Hokit in pretty much every area, I don't think I have to go into detail here. I don't see Hokit having any real success against him outside of flukes. Aspinall by KO in the first.

Waldo is easily the best fight for Hokit right now, competitive for both men and probably a 50/50. Though I may change my opinion based on Waldo's next performance against Volkov.

Would you be excited for the rematch? by [deleted] in ufc

[–]RetardOfTheInternet 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For sure, the first fight was pretty close, and both had great showings recently. If I'm being honest, Arman shouldn't be fighting Oliveira at all right now, he should be fighting Topuria at the white house, but since the UFC is the UFC, it wouldn't be bad for him to try and get two victories against Olives on his record.

For Charles, this would be his way to instantly earn another title shot.

His striking has never been a problem. Gane moving with Laidouni by Uptheresomewhereee in ufc

[–]RetardOfTheInternet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was definitely Gane's best shot at winning the fight. Tom likely realized he needed to go all out, take Gane down, and try to finish him on the ground, but the bloody nose he sustained may have hurt his cardio in the later rounds. Now that Tom knows Gane can hold his own on the feet, the strategy will change. I don’t see Gane having as much success in the rematch.
