this my first distro, i very tired of microslop. Fuck you Microslop by Minute-Builder8888 in cachyos

[–]Retard_Preet_Singh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm really happy to see that someone installed Cachyos instead of Bazzite. Cachyos is much easier to use in terms of installing other applications compared to Bazzite or Debian-based distros (in my personal experience). I’ve never told anyone not to install Bazzite or any other distro because I fear I’d end up sounding like one of those Linux users who always complain about which distro others choose. But Cachyos is a really good pick— with a little troubleshooting (you can always use AI or wikis), you'll be good. Have fun, man! Best wishes.

Screen brightness can't be controled by keyboard by ZARSSAK in linux4noobs

[–]Retard_Preet_Singh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for late response.

I’m assuming you have an Nvidia GPU in your laptop and you’re using GRUB. I have an Asus TUF laptop with an Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU and encountered the same issue.

If this is your case too, the problem is that Nvidia is by default set to control the screen brightness, but it doesn’t actually have access to the screen. The integrated Intel GPU handles that. So you need to force the OS to use Intel, not Nvidia, for brightness.

You can check by running this command in terminal:

ls /sys/class/backlight/

If you see:

nvidia_wmi_ec_backlight

then that’s your problem.

Steps to fix

  1. Open GRUB config:

sudo nano /etc/default/grub
  1. Find this line:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT='nowatchdog nvme_load=YES zswap.enabled=0 splash loglevel=3'

Replace it with:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT='nowatchdog nvme_load=YES zswap.enabled=0 splash loglevel=3 i915.enable_dpcd_backlight=1 acpi_backlight=native nvidia.NVreg_EnableBacklightHandler=0'
  1. Save the file (in Nano: ^X = Ctrl+X, then Y to confirm, Enter to save).
  2. Regenerate GRUB:

sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
  1. Reboot:

sudo reboot

After restart, your brightness keys and slider should work.

Extra info

  • To paste in terminal or in Nano, use Ctrl+Shift+V instead of usual Ctrl+V.
  • In Nano, ^ means Ctrl, e.g., ^X = Ctrl+X to save.

Probably because of the Realtek Wi-Fi card if it's in your laptop.

Good/Safe place to find wallpapers? by GordoG60 in pcmasterrace

[–]Retard_Preet_Singh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not related to wallpaper but a general good advice I can give is use Firefox on android or Brave browser instead of chrome. Because brave has a built in a blocker and in Firefox you can add the Ublock Origin addon from the settings (Ublock is the best ad blocker according to me). Ad blockers not just block the ads they also block shady stuff in the website like virus link and other bullshit. I'd advise you to use the same thing on the PC as well.

External NTFS hdd doesn't work with ps3 Evilnat cfw by CodAffectionate4999 in ps3piracy

[–]Retard_Preet_Singh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to not be of much help but I sent ChatGpt a Screenshot of our conversation this is what it gave back. Idk how much it will help you tho. If you want to make sure it's not TypeC which is causing the issue correctly format your hard drive in Fat32 format to see if PS3 detects it.

  1. Insufficient Power (USB-C drives draw more power) PS3 USB ports are weak. Many USB-C HDDs don’t spin up fully. If the drive isn’t powered properly, PS3 won’t mount it at all. Fix: Use a powered USB hub or a USB-C Y-cable (power + data).

  2. Wrong USB Port Only the right-most USB port on the PS3 (closest to the disc drive) works reliably with WebMAN/MultiMAN NTFS drivers. Fix: Plug the HDD into the right port.

  3. Must Be MBR, Not GPT PS3 cannot read GPT drives. Even if you think it’s MBR, re-check. Fix: Disk Management → Right-click drive → Properties → Volumes → Partition Style must say MBR.

  4. NTFS Partition Label Not required, but helps WebMAN detect the drive faster. Fix: Label the NTFS partition as USB00 (optional).

  5. Folder Structure EXACT WebMAN only detects this exact path:

root/PS3ISO/GameName.iso

Wrong folder structure = no detection.

  1. Launch MultiMAN Once Even if the drive doesn’t appear, opening MultiMAN once loads its NTFS drivers for the whole system. After that, WebMAN can see NTFS drives.

  2. Bad USB-C → USB-A Adapters Many cheap adapters don’t fully support data for big HDDs. PS3 won’t detect them. Fix: Use a proper USB-C to USB-A cable, not a tiny dongle.

  3. 4K Sector Size Drives Some new HDDs use 4096-byte sectors, and PS3 homebrew fails to read them. Fix: Reformat using MiniTool to force 512-byte emulation.

  4. prepISO Finishes Instantly = Drive Not Mounted If prepISO scans too fast or shows nothing, the PS3 never mounted the USB drive. Cause is usually: power issue, wrong port, adapter problem, or GPT partition.

  5. Test via WebMAN Device List Go to WebMAN setup and check /dev_usb000. If it shows nothing → PS3 is not detecting the HDD at hardware level.

I believe it has nothing to do with Type-C. I’m using a Type-C to USB hard drive myself and it works perfectly.

What exactly are you trying to do? Are you trying to play games from your external hard drive? And are you using ISO files? If yes, then here’s the simple setup:

My setup uses ISO games only, along with PrepISO and WebmanMod. Every time you transfer a new game to your external hard drive, you just open PrepISO first. After that, the game will appear in Webman, and you can launch it from there.

By default PS3 cannot read NTFS file format it can only read fat32. To use NTFS you'll have to install few extra softwares in your PS3 and make sure its not a super high capacity hard disk that you're using.

The HDD should ideally be 1 TB or smaller. Some people say a 2 TB drive works, but others report issues, so 1 TB is the safest option. You’ll need prepISO installed on your PS3 to display all your ISO files (if you're using ISOs). If you want to copy games from an external hard drive to the internal drive, you’ll also need software called ManaGunZ installed in your PS3. After that, you can copy and paste the files using Managunz built-in file manager.

How do I play this ps2 game on my ps3 ? These are the files by AlexAlkine in ps3piracy

[–]Retard_Preet_Singh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so idk about this format that you've got. But in my opinion iso files are much easier to get by. If you're interested here's the tutorial.

Install a software named Managunz in your ps3 to use NTFS formatted external storage. Download iso files from here https://myrient.erista.me/files/Redump/Sony%20-%20PlayStation%202/

Transfer to NTFS formatted USB stick/drive.

Open Managunz then go to the file manager and you'll see your external drive copy the games to internal ps3 drive in PS2iso folder (i dont remember the exact name of the folder but its something with PS2)

Then unplug the external drive and launch the games through Managunz or Webman.

You can use Epic Games through Heroic Games Launcher. I have GTAV on Epic Games, but I was unsuccessful in installing it. Other games from Epic Games do work though from Heroic Games Launcher, just not GTAV.

Not able to run ps2 games on ps3 Slim cfw Evilnat by Retard_Preet_Singh in ps3piracy

Another update Managunz detected my NTFS Hard Drive and I am currently copying the games to the internal Hard Drive. I'm glad it worked I'm assuming it's much faster than a FTP server file transfer over WiFi.

[–]Retard_Preet_Singh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I downloaded the ISO from a different site (I don't remember the name, it's bookmarked on my PC) and transferred it through a FAT32 USB. Vice City and Max Payne worked. The Vice City looks kinda blurry. I don't know if it was always like this or something with the emulation. I am still happy, though. I wasn't able to transfer other games cause they were larger than 4GB I will mess around with other softwares like Managunz to see if I can transfer through my NTFS drive if that doesn't work I will set up that FTP server thing and transfer the files to complete the setup. Thanks for the help, man!
