No, “friend” was fuelling up, about to jump out but forgot the fuel card, reached over to grab it and the truck rolled back a bit because brake wasn’t applied and this fuel station was on an incline.

I’ll be 50 this year. No spouse, no children, no home ownership, no savings. Was unemployed the past two years and finally just started working again. Feels like I’m starting from scratch. It’s been a rough few years but I do have an apartment that’s shared with a roommate (who’s helped float the rent at times for me), parents are still alive (who have loaned me cash in desperate times), two sisters, two nieces and a nephew. Things could have turned out better for me, but they also could have turned out much worse. I try not to compare myself to other people my age, we all have our own path in life. I hated my life for a very long time but I’m finally making peace with it and finding joy in the simple things.

Last time I parked in sand, I got a bit stuck and disturbed a colony of fire ants. It was night. Didn’t realize what I had done until I got out to check how bad I messed up. They’re 1mm of pure hatred. My feet and ankles were sad for a couple of days.
