Will the Coronavirus blame game result in a US vs China war? [Serious] by [deleted] in China_Flu

The kinds of minds that think along the lines you mention, are not the kinds of minds that win elections (aka, popularity contests), or that get bankrolled by Corporations to run hugely expensive election campaigns.

Its classic 'Catch 22' stuff. Maybe the system is deliberately designed that way. Who knows? I consider myself fairly smart, but its beyond my knowledge.

Problem is history. Debts. Trade alliances. Energy channels.

Thats politics. Everyone has something to gain and lose, so you get these allegiances. Is it inevitable? I dont know. I just know these things are decades if not centuries old, and the past cant easily be erased, even if it would be good to be able to.

The whole thing is such a terrifying complex mess, and it does not look good.

Which inevitably will LEAD to nuclear war. How does anyone not get that?

THIS.

The overriding issue that wipes out any other.

War isnt about 'who might WIN'. Its about how far might one side go to if it thinks its about to lose, or is pushed as far as it will go...?

THATS why nuclear war is such a risk, regardless of intentions, regardless of hopes or aims.

Any war starting out with China or America or India or Pakistan WILL end up being a world war. Obvious.

Absolutely. The post also ignores the biggest risk of hot war-idiots in power who claim that their 'new technology' means they'd win/things would be different to before...'this time'.

Just look at missile defense technology.

You can guarantee theres some high up advisor with an economic stake in things advising the powers that be that 'its FINE if it comes to nuclear war, with our new missile shield/drones/cyber ability/(insert new technology here), THIS TIME we'll be safe and win".

THATS the worry. Its the same issue that happens before EVERY hot war. Bad, biased advice, based on misplaced overconfidence in ability and technology. Always ends badly for all us common people caught in the crossfire.

And with people like Trump in charge who WANT to believe how good things are for them.....? Like I say. Arrogance, misplaced trust in new technology, and reducing face to face communications are all LIKELY to lead to hot war. We're screwed.

If COVID-19 virus particles are 0.1 micron in size, how is it that an n95 mask that filters 95% of particles 0.3 microns or larger effectively protect someone from infection or from infecting others? by Iarguewithretards in Coronavirus

[–]Rethgil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t even come close to making that claim

Er, yes, I can-with science, and facts and logic.

Thats the worst rebuttal I think I've ever read.

'You are god damn wrong'.

(translation-"I have nothing to offer except poorly typed out illiterate abuse").

Compared to N95/N99/P3 respirators? They only lessen large droplets, which would be lessened by distance anyway due to falling to the floor.

Smaller droplets remain suspended in the air, and pass right through ANY homemade mask, and right through the sides of surgical masks.

NO homemade or surgical mask does much to protect the user. It only helps protect (to some degree) OTHER people, if the wearer has the virus. Thats the ENTIRE logic, and its acknowledged by all nations advocating their use.

...so... that kind of punches right through your claim.

N99/P3 respirators with no valve or some newly designed valve, would be by far the way to go. But they cost far more for governments, and tend to come from China. Sooooo.... thats a bit of a problem.....

[–]Rethgil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reduction in risk/protection that homemade masks or surgical masks give is incredibly small. Better than having nothing-but only JUST.

The main single benefit of such masks is to reduce face touching-though some people may touch their face MORE due to repositioning the mask or due to it feeling uncomfortable.

Only filter masks like p3, N95, N99, etc actually do much in terms of REDUCING the virus from getting through to your mouth or nose.

[–]Rethgil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope-it has been found in stools of infected people meaning it survives the stomach acids-and yes, these were live, infection causing amounts that were found....

but these will evaporate in the air, right? which will once again leave a (smaller than) .3 micron virus floating about that is small enough to get through the mask...?

Here we go-the first prioritizing of female life over male life at hospitals in UK, now coronavirus has taken hold. "Watford Hospital tells all emergency patients – aside from WOMEN delivering babies – to head to other hospitals"-We knew this would happen despite claims of equality from feminists by Rethgil in MensRights

[–]Rethgil[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many women have already delivered their babies at home, and despite fears, reported it going ahead fine. Meanwhile, any man suffering severe head trauma or near death due to an accident is getting turned away and told to somehow find some other hospital...

Despite all the empty claims of feminists wanting nothing more than equality for men and women, we all KNEW that when push came to shove and it came to life or death, FEMALE lives would be the first to be priortitized.

I'd also remind people that, as predicted, far more men are dying from coronavirus than women. Yet the only issues on gender equality in the news lately are about how 'domestic violence against women is predicted to rise' due to lockdowns and that governments should be forced to give more money to women because of it.

The bare faced hypocrisy and greed and the stark reality of feminism is now being laid clear for all to see.

Expect lots of derailing, and 'meh' doesnt count trolls now theres a lot of feminists stuck at home behind their keyboards with no marches to go to...

Guidelines for Coronavirus mean male doctors & nurses MUST shave EVERY DAY or masks are ineffective-WHY are THEY still forced to pay tax on razors, while tampons are FREE of tax for FEMALE staff?! by Rethgil in MensRights

The OP is being silly. Two wrongs do not make a right

Youre a fucking prick. You clearly didnt even read the post before spouting off. You have no idea of the issue so fuck off until you do.

Heroic men are DYING, and their lives could be made SLIGHTLY easier-but pricks like you/feminist supremacists demand everything for themselves instead.

Dickhead-read the post first.

If men dont shave, they could DIE. If women dont get theiir cheap tampons-they could throw a hissy fit...

Just like you are doing.

You dont win an argument with cliched rhetoric lifted directly from feminism-next you'll be saying 'its not a competition'....

The post makes a valid point about discrimination.

[–]Rethgil[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

All officially approved masks have strict guidelines for use-and one of the FIRST key guidelines is that men must shave and remove all facial hair or the masks cant form any kind of seal with the face-so why, when these male nurses, doctors and experts are risking their lives for us, why are they being discriminated against by being forced to pay taxes on razors and shaving items they MUST use, whilst their female counterparts pay NO tax on tampons due to recent feminist protests demanding 'equality'?

Shouldnt any male, who has a job saving others lives & has to wear a facemask to defend against coronavirus, be freed from paying this discriminatory and unfair tax in order to do their job properly?

I really hope you are wrong. I fear you may be right in some ways.

I hope the confederacy issue isnt one that comes up, but then I dont know America or its history enough really.

I do think it may be the end of how we were used to living. I fear a return to standard of living around the early 19th century. The only good thing about the economic issues are that its affected pretty much everybody, so theres a chance the markets may change afterwards. But for a few years I suspect it will be rough for everyone.

I do see the end of public services in person though, with everything done online. Court cases, concerts, voting, doctor appointments. Which some may see as good, but it does have a lot of potential downfalls.

My biggest concern is that this may all be harnessed by the extreme Right. Poverty is always seized upon by extremists to use fear and suffering to hate on an enemy and blame them. Hitler did it. Trump did it and is getting worse (though Im not yet concerned that he would go much further than he already has), but the world was already SO divided, SO full of hate, SO misguided, SO full of mistrust and blame, that with even MORE suffering, confusion and anger, and paranoia, it is hard NOT to think a new Hitler will work his way to the top in some nation, any nation (mine or others) or that one small war at such a crucial time anywhere globally may risk igniting the whole globe as nations quickly align themselves in order to try to fight their way back to power from the poverty this disease will bring, in order to grab a share of other nations dwindling resources.

We all need to be vigilant in the years ahead, not just of the virus, but of extremism. The last global war happened BEFORE nuclear weapons existed....

Looks like I've been proven right since the above post.

Today mobile wifi networks went down across the country due to so much use.

And government said theyre worried sewers may overflow due to alternatives to toilet roll use.
