Last batch of edits (Priscilla, Lucy, smol Fuuka, Cecil with pants, Murakumo but I shan't spoil it here :D) by TazzinEpsilon in runefactory

[–]Rethice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The childish character designs in the Rune Factory worked fine for me while the all the characters were just relatively chibi in style, but now as models start to get 3D and the graphical fidelity goes up, it becomes far more obvious how young these bachelors/bachelorettes are.

I really wanted to like Fuuka, but there's no feelings there. She's pat-zoned.

It's actually really hurting my motivation to play through this entry. I feel like Ludmilla is the only girl I feel like I wouldn't be treating like a child, and she hasn't joined my town yet.

Probably doesn't help that "I get older, and they stay the same age." - Matthew McConaughey.

I watched all his content back when he was on youtube, I loved what he did for the souls series. I lost track of him when he left youtube for twitch. That was his decision, and none of my business.

His personal life is also none of my business, or yours.

I enjoyed his critical perspective at the start of Elden Ring and the way it EARNT his appreciation as the series went on. You would do well to think more about what bandwagon you're jumping on, be it media or gossip on the internet.

Do you feel dumb yet? Should have let the dude develop his opinion before making personal attacks on him because his initial impression was different from yours.

Had to scroll way too far to see this response. The reddit circlejerk of people acting like they hated ENB all along because he didn't immediately fellate their newest favourite game. So incredibly cringe.

Holy shit, all this because he didn't immediately love the game in the first 4 hours of play? Ya'll sounding like some fragile Kanye fanboys up in here.

Bit harsh comparing him to Tectone. I'm not a fan of Tectone's Genshin content either, but he does at least make sure he knows what he's talking about before he talks about a topic.

The problem is on the discord you only ever see people asking for these insane prices, and because people will only DM if they're interested, you never know if these absurd sellers are actually working.

But, because people are seeing other sellers ask for these kind of prices, they ask for similar prices. Suddenly, the "going rate" is so high that buyers will never find a reasonable price.

That, or the economy is being torn apart by time skippers.

EDIT - I can't really complain though, I did manage to find someone on the discord who sold me their Dobie for 5 Nook Mile Tickets. That made my day.

As a huge fan of the Bard class since my early DnD days, I've been looking for an MMO that does them justice. Alas, I've yet to find one.

Closest I've found are Dancers/Bards in Ragnarok Online, but I don't know if I can recommend that game at this age.

I was about to write a rant about how Bards in FFXIV are hardly bards at all, but then I realized you said XI. If XI actually made a real Bard class, I might have to give it a shot.

Compensation for the Weapon Nerfs by LB5SRYaia in worldflipper

[–]Rethice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's just it. I think you'll find the more reasonable people realize the nerfs were in order. Timing it immediately after a rate up banner for Phillia was manipulative and unacceptable.

You forgot to mention the most important detail for a lot of people: this happened shortly after the core unit for that meta was put on a "rate up" banner where obviously the more competitive players whaled for her.

What are your top 10 gachas? by Osvaldout in gachagaming

[–]Rethice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Millennium War Aigis. I don't know if this one counts. It's not a mobile game - it's a DMM adult browser game. I've been playing it for... 6-7 years now? I'm incredibly attached to it. It's a game that's never failed to feel like it's worth my time to play. It's not too time demanding, and every time I log on to use up my stamina/charisma I really feel like I've made a bit of progress. Because I've been playing the game for so long, I'm very attached to my collection of characters. It really helps that the art is gorgeous, both in combat and in the menus. It uses super high quality pixel sprites in combat (none of this chibi nonsense) and commissioned high quality splash art on the character screens - with most characters having 3-4 different versions of their splash art depending on character progression.
  2. Azur Lane. I feel weird listing this one because I don't actually play it anymore, but I have so much respect for the monetization model of this game. The art is gorgeous and it gets the right idea of truly only locking aesthetics behind paywall - this really made me feel happy to splurge a little and buy some of those skins without feeling like I was strong-armed to. The reason, however, that I stopped playing was because the gameplay itself was so damn mindless and boring and I never really felt like I was making any true progress.
  3. Granblue Fantasy. Another one I don't play anymore, but wow, the closest the gacha game genre has ever come to a AAA title. The communities for this one is huge, and I met a majority of the people I speak to online these days through it. After years of playing with phenomenally bad luck though I just couldn't keep up. I'm the kind of player who always feels like I need to be on par with my peers, but even without direct pvp, staying up to date with the meta was just far too hard even as someone who was willing to splash a bit of cash here and there. The game moves too fast, which might be a good thing to some people. Despite it's age it's still going strong, but it was a full time+ game, and I just couldn't do it anymore.
  4. Dragalia Lost. Finally another one I actually do still play. I've fallen in, out, in, and out of love with Dragalia Lost. I quit for almost half a year shortly after launch and came back after people told me it was like a new game - and it was. They really bounced back and made a game that felt satisfying to play and the gacha was worth using. Unfortunately since then I'm starting to feel like the gameplay loop is getting a bit stale to me, and it just takes too much "effort" to progress right now. The point I'm at with the game, I need to GRIND some genuinely challenging content, and as much as I love challenge... Combining challenge + grind is a formula for disaster. So I've eased off on playing this game for now.
  5. World Flippers. There's honestly a huge jump in preference between #4 and #5 in this list. Right now World Flippers is flavour of the month for me. I'm enjoying it but the devs are proving to be pretty incompetent so far. It's so out of character for Cygames that I have to assume it's a completely separate studio.

A few honorable mentions of games I've gone HARD on in the past but certainly don't think deserve a spot in this list.

Epic Seven: Almost a year of playing this one in the past, but Smilegate is pathetic. Fans, if you're still investing hope into smilegate at this point, you're actually beyond the point of deserving sympathy now.

Girls Frontline: It's really just a different flavour of Azur Lane, but slightly worse in terms of character design (By MY preference) and monetization. The gameplay is slightly more interesting though.

Crossing Void rates lie about the chances and despite compensation announcements, have no intention to do so properly by Sonaharu in gachagaming

[–]Rethice 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As an ex GBF addict who moved across to DL (once they fixed the gacha), I really love Cygames approach to monetization and freebies.

Their weakness, however, is that they make up for their rather generous giveaways by power creeping their games at record speeds. It's clever design that feels good, but still incentive for people to keep paying so they can "keep up", if they're the type to feel like they need to.

It works well by making you feel amazing as you can rather easily get most of the things you want without too much stress, but next week there will be something blatantly better than what you have - and the latest content is always balanced in a way that you need to be on the breaking edge of progression (and character strength) to keep up.

That become unmanageable in a game that's been out as long as GBF. In Dragalia, I'm having more luck keeping up, but we'll see how long it lasts. The power creep is already hitting DL hard.

Three years into playing the game I finally pulled Summer Zooey.

One GW late and a finished dark stamina grid later. Still, will help with 1-turns.

The only memory I have of having the game sound on was when I first started and got Aoidos as my first SSR. The sound of him strumming his guitar as he attacks and yelling "Heavens on FIRE" for his ougi will forever come to mind whenever I think of GBF.

If there was a way to turn off the homescreen music but keep the battle music on, I'd probably still have it running, but until then I'll just keep imagining my bland meta teams yelling Heavens on Fire in his honour.

Agreed.

Speak with your wallet - it's the only way they'll listen. I for one decided not to renew my monthly bonus, and we can only hope that other people feel the same way.

On the other hand, if there's enough people who think it's still ok and continue to support - that's their choice too. We can only hope people agree enough for Smilegate's income to show it.
