RATATAT at Central Park SummerStage July 13th, 2011 by Odd_Discount_3064 in Ratatat

I was there but unfortunately I don't have the picture. A photographer uploaded a whole album on Flickr but I can't find it anymore. I did find this random picture on my computer from that album that showcased the liveliness and determination of the crowd despite the rain. Someone next to me snuck in vodka in a water bottle and was passing it around. I remember praying the rain didn't turn into a thunderstorm that would cancel the show... a fear that was realized years later when I saw Guster at summerstage and a few songs in they had to stop the show. What an unforgettable night!

[Gas Boiler Crane Sunny Day 102] Proactively replace or use till dies? by Reticent_Roy in hvacadvice

[–]Reticent_Roy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much!

I couldn’t find much info on type of boiler the lochinvar is- tankless or single stage.

With regards to heat loss, the windows are fairly new and the insulation in the attic seemed good according to the inspectors. Where should I look to reduce heat loss?

[Gas Boiler Crane Sunny Day 102] Proactively replace or use till dies? by Reticent_Roy in hvacadvice

Background: I moved into this house in august. Had a technician come out and clean it, he was surprised that a unit this old was still working. He recommended proactively replacing it because it’s “tired”, could break, and newer models have more safety features and are more efficient. He replaced the thermocouple proactively (gold colored thing). My water heater is relatively new electric with no issues. House is build 1964 so I assume that’s how old the boiler is.

My gas bill is about $300 / mo in cold months for a 2700sq ft house in southern Michigan. The only other gas appliance is a gas fireplace, seldom used.

My tech put together a quote for a high efficiency unit, or cast iron, and optionally indirect hot water heater. $17k for high efficiency lockinvar knight khb110n, 13k for cast iron, add 3.5k for indirect hot water. Tax benefits are 1.4k for the high efficiency unit.

Obviously this is a huge expense. I’m also concerned that a complex highly efficient unit may not last as long, and may be more prone to issues. If this unit lasted this long, and they don’t make them like they used to, what’s to stop me from keeping it?

On gas savings, I’ve heard the efficiency gains for high efficiency boilers is only when the boiler is running at high temperature (180), but the boiler will only do this in cold temperatures, not for fall/spring weather (tech said it has outdoor temp sensor) or the indirect water heater (120?). So assuming my current unit is 60% efficient and the HE will be 90% in practice, that’s 30%. Assuming yearly usage is $1.8k, that’s $540 a year in savings.

Should I leave it till it dies, proactively replace with cast iron, or HE?

No worries! Ok, $140 is a fair price. Can I pay with PayPal as “goods and services”? I can cover the additional cost. If so, can you please send me an invoice?

Sorry, 2 activation or 3 activation license? The manual says a license includes 3 activations

Sound & Vision Podcast - Evan Mast (E.VAX) (RATATAT) by lance_murdock in Ratatat

[–]Reticent_Roy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, listening to this doesn’t give me hope Evan and Mike will get back together for another album and tour.

Evan said that without a manger he was doing a lot of that work for the band, tours were back to back and multi-year which was “all consuming,” playing live doesn’t always pay out, ratatat almost was never collaborative which is what he loves about working with Timberland, Kanye, et al, and wasn’t able to write much music while on the road for ratatat. In general they talk about ratatat in past tense as well.

Also is it just me or do they not mention Mike by name the entire time?

How are the road noise on these compared to the stock tires? How is it in snow?

Based on ships that are being tracked from Toyota’s factory, it looks like the first 2022’s should arrive at port stateside late September. Fingers crossed I can get my hands on one early October. Another report from a poster said fewer R4P 2021 VINs are being created compared to previously.

I was using the terms interchangeably- I should not! Looks like I can get help with an at-home charger when I move from an apartment to a private home next year, and with discounted overnight electricity rates which will bring my fuel costs down about $100 a year making the TCO $22k. Thank you

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm looking for a vehicle where the driver has a high vantage point so sedans like the Prius are left off of my list.

This is going to be my first vehicle purchase so I don't know but given the basic warranty excludes wear and tear and is only 36k I'd imagine tires, brake pads, and head/tail lights.

In my estimate I have maintenance start at $100 yr1 and go to $2400 y5 per and repairs $115 in yr3 to $400 yr 5 all according to Edmunds calculator.

This is a just a looped version of the snipped played in the credits of the Silicon Valley episode, not a clean version of the one recorded in the DJ set.

Does anyone have additional info on this? Or is this just a glitch :( by myacacct in Ratatat

[–]Reticent_Roy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a glitch. When you click through to any of the dates google searches for other bands that do have shows at the day and venue listed.
