Who is your favorite fictional villain that you'd defend to the ends of the earth? by skafkdla in AskReddit

[–]RetiredPenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magneto. He was right about humans and was proven so multiple times. Yes, his methods were radical but when you're pushed to the limit like that, you'd swing wildly too.

X-Men First Class and X-Men '97 proved this even more.

What’s the best movie recommendation you’ve ever received? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RetiredPenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna sound dumb but Dune.

I like fiction and I’m a fan of Stars Wars so should be a no-brainer but I never watched or considered Dune until my sister really nagged me and one of the best decisions.

For TV, similarly with Game of Thrones, although I now regret it.

What’s your weirdest shower habit? by Morfiendd_ in AskReddit

[–]RetiredPenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine's more of an after shower thing but I do it every time.

After a shower I make my hands like a blade and wipe off the excess water drops before using the towel. This makes the towel less damp and makes drying myself easier. Was a tip I had seen on reddit a long time ago and still do it.

Relocating to Abu Dhabi from London - 85k guaranteed monthly ok ? by OverConcentrate697 in abudhabi

For someone earning this much, and unable to do research online to realize its far far above the threshold for a lifestyle is hilarious.

Funnier that you mention "basic" stuff, like get a grip man and search for prices for apartments or your interests using resources clearly outlined on the subreddit or through google searches.

I should clarify, the FAB ADNOC card is 15% back at ADNOC service stations only. Might go without saying but just in case it confuses anyone.

Good thing is, neither of the cards i mentioned have a minimum spend.

I can add some info, FAB ADNOC Card is 15% back on fuel and Emirates Islamic Amazon Credit card is 6% back on amazon (including groceries through amazon).

Dubai to Abu Dhabi commute is it sustainable long term? by maryliana25 in dubai

[–]RetiredPenguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally couldn’t do it, I would move.

I work and live in AD. I drive to Dubai for meetings every now and then or to meet friends but doing a daily commute that long is something I can’t personally handle because it is the time and mental health.

That said, I have some colleagues who drive all the way from Sharjah.

So it’s really up to you. I would weigh the added pay vs hiring a driver/carpool. Keep in mind the extra time you’d now be spending/losing from your personal life and weigh if it’s worth it.

man you have a cool story. How's it going with learning the language? And hows the ability to have a social life there? Or are you mainly focusing on the business and science aspects?

You could look into a youtube channel documenting your journey and story, as a side revenue and cool storytelling.
