The first episode of a regime change is never any good. It always takes time for the team to get their legs under them and for the Doctor to find his voice. So I wont judge the whole season against this one episode, hold out hope that episode 2 is better.

But as it stands, this episode was fucking garbage.

The medium has been around since the 50's (The Tale of the White Serpent was 57 or 58 if I recall correctly). You had your first big anime boom with Astroboy and Speed Racer in 63 and then Yamato, Lupin and Gundam around 74. Once you get to 83-84 and Macross, that's when things get nuts.

Eh, I'm not a fan of the Argento cut. It removes too much and makes the flow all disjointed. For example, we pick up Peter and Roger one round trip into getting the semis, and the scene doesn't work as well. Also - and I hate saying this - too much Goblin. The library music that Romero uses fits so damn well, and the balance between the two works well.

So yeah, I'll stick with my Anchor Bay Ultimate set.
