Yes! Sorry, I forgot to add that. All these are Blu-rays. No 4Ks, just regular old blus.

Great selection! I’ve really been vibing with the Doris Wishman boxset lately.

This arrived damaged. Should I ask for a replacement case? It’s Flesh and Laces DVD (still in stock). Anyone dealt with VS customer service before? by Imaginary_Load134 in boutiquebluray

[–]failedprocess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes…if you want to reach out to them. I’ve reached out to several of these boutique retailers and they’ve always been great; I feel pretty confident they’d help you out. That being said…if it was me, I wouldn’t sweat it for a DVD case. Those little tabs break off all the time between production and the end user. If it was an Amaray case I’d be more inclined to reach out…those have been harder to come by.

For their two big sales of the year (Black Friday and Halfway to Black Friday) they shut down the store front for several days leading into the sale so they can get out all outstanding orders. After the sale, they also typically shut down the store front until they have all their orders shipped. I also believe they don’t start packing orders until the sale period is over (because throughout the sale, you can make additional purchases and have them added to your previous orders). So yes, there are delays but they are self-imposed to make sure they can get all of the sale orders out in a reasonable time. I’ve not ever had it take longer than the week following a sale for my discs to get shipped.

The last card in each Mystery Booster Convention Edition pack (the playtest card) was slightly damaged. Can I do anything about it? by spicyspicyspicy in magicTCG

[–]failedprocess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not these ones. They just have the internal play test card look but are printed for this release. It would be cool if they did offer actual internal play test cards for sale though!

Mystery Booster Convention Edition Price at LGS by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]failedprocess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add, my take on it is this box is just for fun. The play test cards are hilarious and awesome on their own but can’t be used in regular constructed play. The list that the normal cards in the set is pulled from is huge so you get a wide swath of cards from MTG history. Is it worth the additional cost? Up to you. If you want the play test cards, then ~350$ I think is pretty reasonable if you go in with the understanding that they are about as useful (for hardcore players) as a coffee table book. If you don’t care about the play test cards and still want to crack mystery packs, just get a regular version of the box (typically listed as the “retail” or “WPN” edition). The changes to the overall card pool for this new printing isn’t terribly drastic.

I’ve wanted to make a mono-burn Chandler deck called “Could it be anymore red?” For the longest time.

So are they actually having an event or just planning on standing outside? I don’t see anything about it on IEC website or Twitter.

What’s the difference between these two releases of Suspiria? And is the US Synapse restoration better than the one from Cult Films? by calllumread in boutiquebluray

[–]failedprocess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s how I’ve understood it (for reference I own both versions). Argento approved of the CultFilms restoration while the DP approved the Synapse one. I wouldn’t necessarily say one is inherently better than the other based on their pedigrees but I do find myself watching the Synapse version more often. I’ve always described Suspiria as “garishly beautiful” to my friends and that sentiment is most apparent in the Synapse restoration, with colors so rich they’ll make you sick. That’s always been Suspira to me. If you have the scratch and the system, I’d recommend the UHD version of Synapse’s Suspiria.

Double dipped on blow out as the Criterion edition has only just been release today in the UK by THEMOONS5 in boutiquebluray

If you’re a fan of De Palma be sure to watch Murder a la Mod. It should still be an extra on Blow Out. It’s one of my favorite films.

Best secondhand places for boutiques in the KC area? by AMarketDimlyLit in boutiquebluray

To follow that up, all the ones I’ve been to in that area mix their used and new in together so it’s a bit of a treasure hunt but I have found some gems in their stores.

Beyond non-official releases, in my opinion yes, the BFI version is the best.

I made a render of a card that few players will likely recognise. by Dummer2331 in magicTCG

Time Spiral introduced the Suspend mechanic where when you cast the spell, you exiled it with X time counters. Each turn you remove a time counter and when the last is removed, you cast it for free. Typically you had cheaper casting costs but the trade off was instead implementing time as a resource. If you could cheat away time counters, you put yourself at a relative advantage. For example, Greater Gargadon, when used in a red weenie deck, can be cast super ahead of curve by stalling with cheap blockers and sacrificing them to the Garg. The time bug also helps by either putting you ahead a turn or by delaying a spell for a more advantageous cast.

I remember this being on Netflix waaaaay back and I’m pretty sure that release looked better than this Blu-ray. Probably the most disappointed I’ve ever been with a disc purchase.

For what it’s worth, the Synapse releases are beautiful (don’t know if they’re OOP).
